The organization is registered under District Administration office in Kathmandu in 2000. For the sustainable development of any country, education plays a pivotal role. Recognizing this fact, EJG is committed to mainstreaming the educational issues in the media so that an effective social transformation will be realized by bettering the education.

Job Description

Terms of Reference – Project Manager  

EJG is going to conduct the Advocacy and social mobilization campaign to promote school as a zone of peace in Terai Region under the banner of National Coalition for Children as Zones of Peace and Child Protection (CZOPP) with financial support of UNICEF.  Under this project we are expecting the following results: 

  • Establish and strengthen the community feedback mechanism on education related issues; opening the schools 
  • Mobilize Media and Civil Society to create momentum on rights to education 
  • Campaign on School as Zones of Peace 
  • Functional Coordination mechanism developed, implemented and strengthens as per national SZOP framework

Summary of Position:

Under the supervision of the Steering committee of EJG and CZOPP chair, the Project Manager will  play the leading role for designing action plan, implementing and reporting process of the project. The manager will also report to the CZOPP as per need as well as coordinate with the local partners. The position will be based in Kathmandu with frequent field visit of project districts. The position will start in December 2015 and will be appointed for 6 month. The Manager will provide comprehensive secretarial and administrative support too including drafting correspondence, taking minutes, organizing meetings and consultations, orientation to the enumerators and local partners, making travel arrangements of field visits.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop the Action Plan for effective implementations, Organize project workshops/meetings/consultations  at central and district levels and report right after all the consultations and meetings and circulate to the concern stakeholders
  • Communicate frequently with all the concern stakeholders
  • Make sure all the compliances of projects properly when implementing the activities
  • Build networks and partnership(s) with concerned agencies at the national, district, and local levels in accordance with the project objectives to establish a sustainable partnership
  • Ensure that all the activities including meetings and consultations are organized as per the project’s time frame
  • Provide project related technical briefs, to the local partners and necessary guidance to the project team
  • Make field visits to project sites as per the requirement of the project
  • Support the formation of Local research team who can undertake data collection, analysis, documentation and reporting
  • Lead on capacity building of the Local research teams
  • Conduct the meetings at national and local level
  • Support inclusive, safe and ethical participation of all levels at all stages of data collection, data storage, coding, analysis, documentation, and reporting
  • Prepare the final report
  • Explore funding opportunities from inside and outside donors for the continuation of the project
  • Assist to the EJG regular office operation as per need
  • Other duties as per the direction of EJG steering committee members and CZOPP Chair

Required Qualification and Experience:

Master’s Degree in Humanities and Social Science, Management or Education. Minimum 3 years of experience in project management in the area of Quality Education. Must have experience of working on national policy advocacy with media on the issues of School Education or experienced in the related field.  Preference will be given for the work experience in INGOs areas Child Rights, school's SMC/PTA, Civil Society, NGOs and DEO.
