Duration: One Year (including a three-month probation period)

Purpose
The Programme Associate is a key staff member of the organisation and will work closely with the Programme Officer and other team members in developing, planning and timely implementation of programmes for protection of children and young people online, in alignment with ChildSafeNet's strategies and policies. Responsibilities of this position also includes supporting implementation of cyber safety research studies, training programmes and awareness campaigns.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Assist in designing and developing an inclusive and quality strategy for the core programme areas - research, capacity building , advocacy and awareness raising
- Assist in developing programme concepts and proposals
- Assist to ensure programme activities are delivered effectively and in timely manner
- Monitor programmes and projects by taking necessary corrective actions that are being followed up and reviewed periodically
- Make regular programme reviews and provide feedback to the line manager
- Identify, assess, and communicate risks associated with the implementation of project, and development of mitigation measures
- Assist to ensure that ChildSafeNet’s contractual obligations with partners on project targets and deliverables are met in a timely manner
- Ensure that periodic quantitative and qualitative reports are submitted in time to partners and funding organisations
- Assist in planning, development and implementation of training and capacity building activities on cyber safety issues relating to children and young people
- Assist in developing, adopting and using training manuals and guidelines
- Organise and facilitate capacity building programmes for partner organisations on cyber safety
- Assist in development of cyber safety awareness campaign materials
- Assist and coordinate with Programme Officer for planning and implementation of research, training, advocacy and awareness programmes of the organisation
- Assist in coordination with NGOs, international development partners, collaborators, consultants and other key stakeholders (from public and private sector), for implementation of programmes and to explore new partnership opportunities
- Network and build relationships with government bodies, national/international organisations, media, child/youth/parents groups and private sector
- Assist in development of funding proposals, including research grants, training, awareness raising and advocacy programmes on cyber safety issues relating to children and young people
- Ensure timely planning, monitoring and submission of reports to the line manager
- Participate in trainings, meetings, workshops and seminars (online and/or offline) related to child protection and cyber safety issues relating to children and young people, representing ChildSafeNet.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor to carry out project deliverables
Person Specifications
Academic Qualification and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree with minimum two years of relevant experience
- Demonstrated project implementation experience in a small multi-disciplined team, preferably in the field of child protection
Technical Knowledge
- Good knowledge on child rights, child protection, protection of children online and gender issues in Nepal
- Knowledge on online risks for children and young people, particularly on existing and emerging patterns of cybercrimes, such as, online sexual abuse and exploitation and cyber bullying
- An interest in new technology and children’s rights, and familiarity with current digital trends, popular internet services and applications used by children and young people
Project Management
- Experience in project management – planning, operation, implementation, monitoring and reporting
- Experience of financial and budget management (including setting, monitoring and reporting on team and/or project budgets)
- Understanding on donor reporting system and ability to draft quality donor reports
- Skills to collect and analyze project progress data and incorporate them in reports
- Report writing skills for developing monthly, quarterly and annual reports
Capacity Building
- Experience in conducting training for children and young people, preferably with the use of child and young people-friendly methods, desirable
- Experience in building capacities of project staff and partners
Research Studies
- Experience in conducting social research studies, particularly with children and young people and other sensitive issues, desirable
- Ability to analyse data and prepare research reports
Advocacy and Networking
- Experience in conducting social awareness campaigns, preferably including the use of social media
- Skills on stakeholders mapping and mobilization for broader benefit of the project
- Good skills in coordinating and facilitation of meetings with stakeholders
- Good presentation skills in English and Nepali
Monitoring and Evaluation
- Knowledge on using results-based monitoring and evaluation tools, desirable
- Ability to develop project trackers to maintain up-to-date database on project progress
