The Leprosy Mission (TLM) is a UK based international non-government organization active in 34 countries; started its work in Nepal from 1957 with establishment of Anandaban Hospital in Lele, the sourthern part of Lalitpur. However, from 2005 TLM Nepal has been working as independent NGO in partnership with TLM international and the Government of Nepal to provide specialist tertiary care and technical support for leprosy control programs. It also undertakes internationally recognized research into leprosy and implements disability inclusive community development programs through its own activities and strategic partnership.

Being one of the largest NGOs in the country working in the field of leprosy, TLM Nepal mainly focuses in working with and for people affected by leprosy. Its development interventions focuses in the areas of health, capacity building, education, sustainable livelihoods, community development, advocacy and research working towards equity and inclusion of people affected by leprosy and disability in the development process.

Overall purpose of  job

PSO will also assist in collecting, collating and verifying the information received from project  districts, Government of Nepal and NGO partners in a way that provides current situation for  appropriate programming and evidences of change over time. He will also assist in preparing  program reports along with conducting trainings in the field as per the need. Ensure effective  implementation and partnerships including meaningful participation and efficient use of resources to meet the project objectives and outcomes set out in the project proposal.

Key tasks and responsibilities 

  • Under close supervision of a programmes manager provides administrative and logistical  support to organize trainings and activities. 
  • Contributes to program implementation and evaluation; manage daily operations under  the day-today supervision of the Programmes Manager. 
  • Engage in documenting project progress, impact, achievement and case stories on a  regular basis. 
  • Monitor program activities to ensure all donor regulations and policies are adhered and  deliverables are met with consistent high quality;  
  • Support the preparation of written reports and presentations on programs as required,  specifically providing inputs for monthly activity reports and donor reports; 
  • Contributes to writing and reporting of various documents specific to the team  
  • Assists in program support and conduct background research for the program 
  • Provides administrative support for proposal production and work plan formulation;  takes part in strategic and work plan discussions  
  • Provides logistical administrative support to visiting international and national experts  Assists and supports in program design, implementation and evaluation  
  • Assists in translation, editing and writing of program documents in Nepali and English  Trains and supervises interns on tasks  
  • Additional responsibilities based on demonstrated ability and/or program needs 
  • Serves as a program point of contact, maintains relations with partners and stakeholders,  represents the program at appropriate program activities;  
  • Maintains cooperative working relations within TLMN Project offices; 
  • Coordinates with Administrative/Finance team in reviewing budgets and expenditures;  Travels as necessary to monitor program implementation;  
  • Works with the Monitoring and Evaluation Team in collecting data and measuring  program impact; 
  • Participate in regular activities and meetings with program partners and stakeholders; ∙ Maintains strict neutrality in dealing with program activities; 

Person Specification 

  • Master’s Degree in any discipline with 1 year of experience and progressive experience  implementing and leading education and program activities. 
  • Understanding and appreciation of country-led health or development strategies 
  • Good analytical skills and ability to interpret complex socio-cultural backgrounds as  well as quickly obtain an overview of a variety of activities and approaches of national  and international actors 
  • Excellent written skills and ability to elaborate reports, document and disseminate good  practices and programme successes for further dissemination. 
  • Excellent computer knowledge and skills 
  • Ability to successfully coordinate with I/NGOs, research institutions, and other agencies 
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team-oriented  setting. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
