The Program Officer will be responsible for managing Clean up Nepal’s Litter-Free Neighborhood Program. The ideal candidate will be proactive, independent, and can handle multiple responsibilities under tight deadlines. The Program Officer will use his/her strong strategic and communications skills to collaborate with the local community in changing attitude and behavior around solid waste management.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain and strengthen relationship with stakeholders, including volunteers and program partners.
- Produce resources on a number of topics in waste management for schools and communities.
- Ideate activities to engage, inform and motivate project neighbourhoods.
- Create detailed work plan and smoothly follow through on it in collaboration with stakeholders in a timely manner.
- Analyse, evaluate and report on activities and outcomes, and use this information to swiftly make changes and strengthen performance as necessary.
- Undertake other tasks as assigned by the Executive Director.
Skills, Experience and Interest:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science/Social Sciences/Humanities or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years work or volunteer experience in planning, analysis and program management.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully lead and/or coordinate a program or project.
- Proactive and independent.
- Strategic thinker who understands and takes into consideration challenges.
- Able to handle multiple tasks and stay agile under tight deadlines.
- Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
- Fluent in written and spoken Nepali and English with an ability to translate from English to Nepali and vice versa. Newari language skills a plus.
- Able to prepare letters to stakeholders and type in Nepali.
- Design skills such as ability to use Photoshop, InDesign and other design tools desired.
- A motorbike or scooter license, with access to the vehicle, desired.
- An interest or background in the environment, specifically solid waste management, desirable but not necessary.
