Job Description

Job Type: Contract (Deployment as soon as possible)

Scope of the position: Under the direction of the Country Coordinator, the Program Coordinator will be responsible for the overall design, coordination and implementation of Malteser Internationals’funded activities to ensure timely, effective and high quality program implementation in compliance with the organization principles, donor requirementsand country regulations.

Main Responsibilities / Duties

  • Overall responsibility for the effective and efficient management of the Malteser International program in earthquake affected areasin line with Malteser Internationals’ policies, procedures and guidelines ensuring quality and transparency
  • Development of concept notes and program proposals in support of maintaining a relevant program portfolio for the earthquake affected areas
  • In close coordination with the Country Coordinator, develop and maintain a coherent program strategy based on the pillars of Malteser International’s profile in Nepal 
  • Monitoring of the work of partner agencies and support in execution of rehabilitation, health, WASH and DRR projects through field visits and regular meetings
  • Support of partner agencies in effective implementation of the activities developed with them, and identification and development of effective development and capacity building activities with them
  • Planning, organisation and/or conduct needs assessments and fact-finding missions
  • Management and supervision of project teams placed under her/his responsibility
  • Representation of Malteser Internationalat central and district level as required
  • Liaison with relevant Government, local authorities, community leaders, humanitarian agencies, CBOs, and other relevant stakeholders
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills and qualification    

  • Master’s Degree in a relevant field
  • At least 10 years of professional experience in program management using project cycle management methodology (PCM) and tools
  • At least 3 years international working experience with INGOs, UN or international donors 
  • At least 10 years working experience with INGOs, UN or international donors
  • Knowledge ofat least two of the following sectors is an asset: Health, WASH, DRR construction/engineering
  • Experience in designing M&E systems, tools, quality data collection and analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to work in partnership with local communities and NGOs
  • Provenstaff management expertise
  • Excellent analytical, communication and negotiation skills
  • Problem solving/initiative - must be able to find appropriate solutions to identified problems and initiate action to respond to needs
  • Independent and initiative working style
  • Fluency in Nepali and English; excellent English writing skills and proven ability to develop proposals and write reports 
  • Advanced computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook)
  • Capacity and keen interest to undertake capacity building activities for partner agencies and communities
