The Reducing Child, Early and Forced Marriage (Nepal R-CEFM) Project (Feb 2020 – April 2022)goal is to strengthen the institutional and technical capacity of the Government of Nepal (GON) in Province 2 at the province and municipal levels to design, implement, monitor, evaluate, and coordinate effective social and behavior change (SBC) activities and to strengthen child protection systems for reducing CEFM through a community-based, multi-sectoral, data-driven lens. Job Description

Location: Municipality based in Rautahat, Province 2, Nepal

Supervisor: SBC and Advocacy Coordinator

The Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Programs (CCP) specializes in developing and implementing social and behavior change (SBC) programs that improve lives around the world. 

The Reducing Child, Early and Forced Marriage (Nepal R-CEFM) Project (Feb 2020 – April 2022) goal is to strengthen the institutional and technical capacity of the Government of Nepal (GON) in Province 2 at the province and municipal levels to design, implement, monitor, evaluate, and coordinate effective social and behavior change (SBC) activities and to strengthen child protection systems for reducing CEFM through a community-based, multi-sectoral, data-driven lens. As part of its COVID response, the project will also implement an education component/learning continuity program to Increase learning outcomes for adolescent girls through remedial and non-formal education. 

Essential Job Functions: Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Work with municipalities and wards to understand their Child Early and Forced Marriage (CEFM) priorities and advocate for effective SBC processes, interventions, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Provide technical support to municipalities and wards to enhance their SBC capacity
  • Provide SBC technical assistance to local CBO, NGOs on R-CEFM SBC
  • Collaborate with local stakeholders working on R-CEFM
  • Implement and monitor local level project-related SBC capacity strengthening activities
  • Work in coordination with EGSG (Educate the Girls and Save the Girls) campaign.

Qualification/Work Experience/Competencies

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, communication or related field required.
  • Understanding and experience in implementing SBC programs with the ability to apply understanding and experience for reducing CEFM or improving GESI.
  • Minimum 5 years related experience in child marriage, child protection, girls’ education, Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health (ASRH) or related experience required.
  • Experience engaging and/or working with the GON and its partners at the local (municipality and ward) level is essential.
  • Previous experience working in Province 2 is essential.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise confidentiality, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Ability to ensure adherence to applicable donor rules and regulations and local in- country laws.

Language Skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Nepali.
  • Ability to speak a local language of Province 2 is required.
  • Ability to effectively present information to government officials, funding organization, public groups and with community members.

Computer SkillsMS Word, Excel, MS PowerPoint, online platforms, and other standard software.
