Job Description

Work Description

  • The Outreach and Business Development Manager (OBM) is responsible for the exploration and development of business opportunities for AIDIA, Kathmandu. The OBM will proactively support or seek new business opportunities, ensure intelligence gathering at country level, and share AIDIA impact with the sponsors, business partners and the general public, including the Nepali media and governmental entities.
  • The OBM will report to the AIDIA CEO and will leverage and seek technical support and collaboration from the AIDIA Business Partners/Sponsors.
  • The OBM is the point of contact at the AIDIA Office for communication issues and business development initiatives.
  • S/he maintains the business related data base and country and region-wide communication with partners, potential partners, sponsors and advertisers.
  • S/he will evaluate efficiency and impact of the communication and business development initiatives to ensure effectiveness and adequate branding of projects in line with AIDIA and sponsor branding guidelines.
  • S/he will manage visibility events and media engagement in AIDIA-led activities.

Key Responsibilities

Provide management, outreach and business development assistance to AIDIA, including 

  • Leading the sponsorship and outreach department at AIDIA; create sustainable partnerships with sponsors, partners and advertisers; 
  • Coordinating with partners and sponsors, including tracking financial details and deadlines, assisting with proposal-writing for sponsorship and partnership opportunities, maintaining database of contact-persons etc.; 
  • Helping promote the AIDIA Publications and programs; create a wide base of subscribers to AIDIA Magazine and Research Publications; 
  • Create annual AIDIA Membership that caters to AIDIA members by providing them with relevant services and benefits. 

Assist in event management and content management, programming and design, and financial management, including 

  • Setting up and arranging meetings with potential sponsors for organization of events, funding of research publications and any other aspect related to the organization’s work;
  • Arrangement of logistical, financial and business related aspects of foreign delegation visits and visits of high-profile dignitaries;
  • Work on proposal writing, content management and framing of business outcomes for attracting reputed sponsors and partners for AIDIA events and programs; 
  • Manage the organizational and financial aspects of regular public seminars, conferences and other related events. 

Perform database management and communications tracking and monitoring tasks,  including: 

  • Tracking publications by team members in newspapers, journals and online new portals and ensuring it’s outreach to a wide range of readers across the globe; 
  • Report on reach and impact of communications activities and initiatives including the membership and subscription details;
  • Work closely with the research team to disseminate and publicize reports, policy briefs, white papers, journal articles etc. in order to attract advertisers and potential funders; 
  • Maintain consistent, sustainable and effective communication with AIDIA Partners, Sponsors and Advertisers (on AIDIA’s publications);
  • Provide information to the Head of Finance and Operations on all activities for institutional outputs.
