Operations Manager-1 Position

Reporting to Country Director, the Operations Manager will be responsible for leading, managing and developing a high performing team of functional experts covering the areas of Administration and Logistics, IT and Security. She/He contributes to the development of Country Strategic Plan on the operational aspects and support country budget and planning process. One of the main responsibilities of Operations Manager is to develop a high performing operations team enabling effective support to programme implementation. 

Terms & Location: This is a three (3) years fixed term position based at Country Office, Lalitpur

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensures effective and efficient administrative and logistics support and resources are provided to the staff and programmes of Plan International Nepal. This includes responsibility for providing a safe, secure and attractive physical work environment
  • Ensures IT systems provide efficient and effective communication and data management for the organisation, linking with Plan’s corporate systems, including responsibility for developing and strengthening staff capacity to operate and manage IT systems inalloffices
  • Ensures that Plan International Nepal has updated safety and security related policies, procedures, protocols that meet the purpose of staff, assets and programme security needs, during usual as well as disaster time, and that are aligned with  Plan global, regional and country security standards
  • Ensure that Plan Nepal has an effective and efficient Operations team that are empowered to deliver sustainable changes to the children and their communities in Nepal
  • Contribute the strategic development and management of the country in particular by reviewing and commenting on the country strategic plan
  • Work with department heads to ensure that all departments have effective preparedness plans in place in the event of a disaster and that these are regularly reviewed and are efficiently and effectively implemented in the event of disaster
  • Oversee the coordination of the preparation, consolidation, analysis and submission of Operations budgets for Country Offices and Program Units as per field budget instructions and guidelines
  • Provide necessary information on operations budget for project budget preparation though a systematic ways ensuring cost-recovery as a focused element
  • Coordinate the reporting process, in particular quarterly and annual reports, to the Regional Office including timely submission of all required reports and implementation of follow-up actions and recommendations

Knowledge, Skills, Behaviors, and Experience Required to Achieve Role’s Objectives: 

  • Master’s Degree preferably in Business Administration/Operations Management. 5-7 years experience as Head of Operations/Administration/Finance in any reputable organization with demonstrated ability to manage complex operations
  • Practical Knowledge of operations support for development and emergency response including sphere standards
  • General knowledge of administration, ICT, security, audit, people management and business management matters
  • Strong knowledge of the requirements of donor(s) compliance and grants management
  • Flexible in responding to new demands presented in emergency situations
  • Excellent Listener who understands and shows sensitivity to the views of others
  • Creates a highly motivated team with a unified purpose
  • Organizes work to give others development opportunities
