Job Description

Contract:Time bound Contract-one year
Work Purpose:The Operation Grants Management Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring that grant-related information is understood and shared with other district staff. This person is also responsible for closely monitoring NGO partner implementation activities, and tracking their expenses in close coordination with Kathmandu-based Finance and Program teams. This is a senior position within the District team and requires previous grant management experience. The ideal candidate will be proactive, community-focused, and have the capacity and expertise to adapt project interventions to meet the changing needs on the ground. The working environment is fast-paced, and the project sites located in often challenging terrain.
Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate closely with the District sector teams, local NGO partners, and Kathmandu-based Field Operations, Finance, and Program Managers and Sector Managers
  • Supervise the Health, Education, Child Protection, WASH, Livelihoods, Infrastructure, and Cash program Coordinators
  • Support WV field staff and NGO partners to report accurately, according to different grant requirements
  • Provide operational guidance to NGO partners, and ensure that program activities are being carried out in a timely and effective manner, and to a high standard
  • Support the Operations and with capacity building activities for NGOs partners, and lead training sessions where necessary
  • Support the District Manager with coordinating activities with government agencies including the DDRC, NGOs/INGOs, community representatives, and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Ensure NGO partner financial expenditures are properly tracked and regularly reported to the Finance Team
  • Prepare project progress reports, trainings, other reports as required by the Programs, Operations and Finance teams
  • Report to the Nepal Earthquake Response District Manager
  • Minimum Qualification and Experience required:
  • Master’s degree in development studies, economics, finance, management or relevant field
  • Five years of progressive INGO/NGO experience, with three years of grant / finance management   
  • Multi-sector programming focused on community development at the district level
  • Experience with project design, planning, monitoring and evaluation
  • Capacity-building / training experience, and excellent oral and written English & Nepali
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Hold a high level of integrity and honesty; be self-motivated and able to work independently
