Maya Healthcare is building a growing network of pharmacy stores across Kathmandu Valley. The Operation Manager - Retail Pharma Chain will be responsible for ensuring the successful execution and consistent operation of this network.

The role will oversee store openings, day-to-day operations, financial performance, workforce management, procurement, regulatory compliance, SOP implementation, and customer experience. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to an experienced multi-site retail operator who can build systems from the ground up while maintaining strong operational and financial discipline.

Key Responsibilities

1. Store Expansion & Operations

Lead end-to-end execution of new pharmacy store openings, including site validation, licensing, lease coordination, fit-out, and staffing.
Ensure new stores open according to approved timelines and operational standards.
Develop and implement operational playbooks for different store formats.
Monitor day-to-day performance across all stores and ensure consistent service standards.

2. P&L & Business Performance

Take accountability for store-level and network-wide financial performance.
Monitor revenue, operating costs, profitability, and EBITDA against targets.
Identify operational, staffing, or demand-related issues affecting store performance and implement corrective actions.
Work closely with Finance and Real Estate teams to control store-level capital expenditure.

3. Procurement & Supply Chain

Manage vendor and supplier relationships.
Lead procurement activities while balancing cost, quality, reliability, and availability.
Ensure effective management of pharmaceutical inventory and supply requirements.
Coordinate with procurement teams to address supply-chain challenges, including import-dependent and cold-chain-sensitive products.

4. People & Workforce Management

Build and manage the recruitment, onboarding, training, and retention strategy for pharmacists and store employees.
Develop workforce plans aligned with store expansion and operational requirements.
Establish clear performance expectations and accountability for store teams.
Develop SOPs covering store operations, pharmacist consultation standards, and employee conduct.

5. Compliance & Quality

Ensure all stores comply with applicable pharmaceutical laws, including the Drugs Act 2035 and Department of Drug Administration requirements.
Ensure proper prescription handling, pharmaceutical storage, and cold-chain management.
Maintain high standards of operational quality and customer service.
Ensure all stores remain audit-ready at all times.

6. Reporting & Performance Management

Establish structured KPI and reporting systems across stores.
Monitor store-level operational and financial KPIs.
Use data and digital tools to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
Provide regular operational updates and performance reports to senior management.

7. Confidentiality

Maintain strict confidentiality regarding Maya Health's technology roadmap, unreleased products, features, and business strategies.
Exercise discretion when operating within a pre-launch or confidential business environment.

Job Specification

Required qualifications for this job

Required Education Level:Under Graduate (Bachelor)

Required Experience:More than 3 years

Other Specification

5–10+ years of experience in multi-site retail, pharmacy, FMCG, QSR, convenience retail, or similar operations.
Bachelor's degree in Business, Pharmacy, Healthcare Management, or a related discipline is required. MBA or equivalent qualification is an advantage.
At least 3–4 years of experience with direct P&L responsibility across multiple locations.
Proven experience opening and launching new stores/sites from the ground up.
Experience with site validation, licensing, staffing, and operational setup.
Experience in the Nepali regulatory and labor environment is strongly preferred
