Street Child is an international charity based in the United Kingdom that aims to create avenues for out-of- school children to access education by through an integrated approach that strengthens the capacity of teachers, schools and communities to sustain their investment in the education for their children.

Following the devastating earthquakes in April and May 2015 that left more than 1 million children out of school and destroyed or damaged over 50,000 classrooms, Street Child UK expanded its operations into Nepal to assist local partners to re-establish education in some of the country’s worst affected communities. 

With the support of DFID, it is now implementing education and livelihood program targeting marginalized girls in Mahottari, Dhanusha, Siraha, Saptari and Sunsari districts in Nepal.Street Child of Nepal is therefore calling applications in following position for the implementation of its new program:

Job Description

Reports To: Monitoring and Evaluation Manager
Working Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00am to 5:30 pm

Objective/Purpose of the Position:

The purpose of this position is to provide support to the Kathmandu Monitoring and Evaluation team on data collection, data entry and cleaning, analysis and dissemination of results from a prospective, rigorous impact evaluation of “Breaking the Bonds” Programme.

Key Responsibilities:
Data Cleaning and Merging:
The Data Analyst will:

  • Review data files and basic data cleaning to ensure all observations are uniquely identified and reported data is internally consistent.
  • Conduct merging across data files to ensure clean merges.

Data Analysis:
The Data Analyst will:

  • Construct variables in accordance with international and local definitions.
  • Construct baseline difference in means tests and export to excel.
  • Produce summary statistics of key outcome and covariate variables.

Dissemination:
The Data Analyst will:

  • Produce a written descriptive report following the approved template.
  • Produce project summarizing report.

Required Skills/Experiences:

  • University degree or equivalent in relevant field, such as health, public health, or economics.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the relevant position.
  • Relevant experience conducting, managing and designing field work and data collection for empirical research.
  • Excellent written English communication skills, with focus on research protocols, research papers and descriptive reports for diverse audience.
  • Fluent in both Nepali and English; Maithili will be an added advantage.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, ability to facilitate communication between various levels of management and work independently in order to meet deadlines.
  •  Previous experience with project impact evaluation in development organizations highly desirable.
