The Media & Communication Officer will provide regular information, communication and media related support to the regional offices in coordination with Media & Communication department in Kathmandu. S/he will undertake regular field visits, gather and compile project/program information for internal and external purposes and documentation.

Term and Location: Fixed term position based in Butwal and Biratnagar under Western Regional Office (WRO) and Eastern Regional Office (ERO)

Required Qualification: Bachelor's degree in Social Studies or Media & Communication related discipline with at least 3 years of experience in similar position preferably in I/NGOs

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

• Collect, categorize, and coordinate with the regional office for all communication and documentation related requests and respond to them in consultation with the Media and communication Department.
• Undertake field visit to the relevant program areas covered by the regional offices to document Save the Children’s program activities and impacts
• Gather,edit and coordinate media collaterals like images, audio, video and texts.
• Engage and assist program staff in necessary publications undertaken by the field office
• Be the focal point to coordinate brand compliance in coordination with the center. Contribute to Save the Children’s internal communication mechanisms (OneNet, Newsletter, and social media sites)
• Support the department to ensure efficient and accurate information flow between regional offices and center
• Work with the regional project based team to engage in media outreach activities and profile local advocacy issues in the region
• Capacity Building of SCI and PNGO staff on OD
• Support project staff and partner NGO on case study and documentation
• Representation
• Representing the organisation amongst partners related to branding policies, media and communication work of the organisation
• Occasional duties
• Take up roles and responsibilities according to the needs of the department

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• Good networking and communication abilities
• Experience in using business applications such as Microsoft Word & Excel
• Basic skills in multimedia software applications
• Basic skill in using audio and video digital equipment such as still and video camera and audio recorders
• Excellent written and spoken skills in English and Nepali
• Good presentation and communication skills
