Biocomp Nepal Pvt. Ltd. is a social enterprise in Lalitpur working in waste management and recycling. Our mission is to introduce sustainable waste management solutions and create new innovative products from recyclables for the local market. Biocomp is growing its business in the production of organic fertilizers and expanding to the collection and recycling of solid waste such as plastic. Biocomp has a vacancy for a mechanical process engineer to work with Biocomp on improving the composting processes, to set up a new production line for liquid fertilizers, and for planning and setting up our new plastic recycling plant. 

This position is part of the Dutch YEP programme, the main goal of the programme is to offer young local professionals the opportunity to gain experience with working in an international environment through Dutch organisations. Job Description

Improving and setting up recycling lines for organic and solid waste

• Assess current operations in the recycling of organic waste and implement proposed modifications to the composting process

• Design and set up a low cost manufacturing line for organic liquid fertilizers

• Contribute to planning and installation of a plastic recycling line

• Project management, including budgeting and financial planning

• Effective collaboration with Biocomp’s management team

• Attending trainings of the YEP programme (Online and/or in the Netherlands depending on the Covid situation)

Qualifications

Education

• University degree in mechanical process engineering, industrial engineering or another degree which qualifies for this position in combination with the relevant experience.

Experience

• Minimal two years experience in a similar position

• Experience in the waste management or agricultural sector is a pre but not required

Skills and Competencies 

• Proactive and keen to take on responsibilities

• Experience or interest in working in international teams 

• Project management skills

• Strong problem solving skills

• Proficiency with engineering software programmes

• The applicant is expected to read, write, and speak fluent English
