Roles and responsibilities of this job

A reputed hydropower company is seeking a qualified and experienced Manager – Mechanical Engineering to strengthen its project and engineering operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for technical review, project monitoring, cost and milestone validation, reporting, and coordination with contractors, consultants, technical advisors, and relevant stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Participate in mechanical design reviews, cost validation, and preparation/review of technical specifications.
Review project reports, contractual documents, invoices, drawings, technical documents, and other submittals from contractors, consultants, and third parties.
Support the Engineering Department in reviewing mechanical engineering matters and taking necessary actions.
Monitor and report project progress on a daily basis.
Closely monitor ongoing mechanical works, equipment installation, testing, commissioning, and related project activities, and maintain proper records.
Coordinate with the Company's technical advisors and advisors appointed by lending institutions, and review their technical reports and recommendations.
Prepare monthly project reports for relevant Government of Nepal (GON) authorities and Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) as required under project agreements.
Prepare professional PowerPoint presentations for the Company's Directors, GON authorities, and other stakeholders.
Review and certify Interim Payment Applications/Certificates submitted by construction contractors.
Participate in overall project cost, milestone, progress, and performance reviews, including validation and record keeping.
Coordinate with contractors, consultants, suppliers, project teams, and technical advisors on mechanical engineering and project-related matters.
Provide technical support to management and the Engineering Department as required.
Perform other project and engineering responsibilities assigned by management.

Job Specification

Required qualifications for this job

Required Education Level:Under Graduate (Bachelor)

Required Experience:More than or equal to 8 years

Other Specification

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a reputed university in Nepal or abroad.
Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant field will be preferred.
Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in hydropower projects.
Sound knowledge of mechanical engineering design and AutoCAD.
Knowledge of Primavera P6 or other project scheduling/planning tools.
Good understanding of hydropower mechanical systems, equipment, installation, testing, commissioning, and project execution.
Strong knowledge of project monitoring, cost validation, technical documentation, and contractor management.
Excellent command of English, both written and spoken, is essential.
Strong analytical, reporting, communication, coordination, and presentation skills.
Ability to work effectively with contractors, consultants, technical advisors, government authorities, and other stakeholders.
Flexible, proactive, and responsive to changing project requirements and work demands.
