Kharel Law Group is an Australian-based legal practice operating under the brand Emigrate Lawyers, specialising in Australian migration law, family law, and related legal services. Our Kathmandu office, Emigrate Consultants, supports Australian legal operations through legal research, drafting, document preparation, and client support. Emigrate Lawyers is led by award winning Nepali Australian lawyer Mr Madhab Kharel.
ROLE OVERVIEW
We are seeking a competent and detail-oriented Legal Officer to support our Australian lawyers and paralegals. This role involves legal research, drafting, file management, compliance support, and assistance with migration and family law matters.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist Australian lawyers and senior staff with legal research and case preparation.
Draft legal documents, submissions, letters, and internal memoranda.
Assist with preparation of visa applications, supporting submissions, and evidence collation.
Review, organise, and manage client files and legal documentation.
Ensure documents comply with legal, regulatory, and internal standards.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in CRM and document management systems.
Assist with responding to Department of Home Affairs correspondence.
Support paralegals with administrative and procedural legal tasks.
Conduct basic legal research on Australian migration and family law matters.
Liaise internally with operations, content, and admin teams as required.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB or equivalent) – required.
Strong written and spoken English.
IELTS score of 6.0 or above (or equivalent English proficiency).
Strong legal research, drafting, and analytical skills.
High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
Ability to handle confidential information professionally.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PDF tools, and document management systems.

This is a fully office-based role in Lazimpat, Kathmandu.
