Employment Type: Full-Time, Paid Internship

The Diplomat Nepal is seeking a Journalist Intern to join its Editorial / Journalism Department for a six-month paid, full-time internship. The selected interns will work closely with the editorial team and gain practical experience in news reporting, interviewing, research, feature writing, diplomatic journalism and digital media.

Key Responsibilities

Research and develop news and story ideas related to diplomacy, foreign affairs and current affairs.
Attend and report on press conferences, diplomatic events, seminars and public programmes.
Conduct interviews with diplomats, government officials, experts and other relevant stakeholders.
Prepare news reports, features, interviews and background stories.
Assist the editorial team with fact-checking, research and content development.
Monitor national and international developments relevant to Nepal.
Contribute content for the Diplomat Nepal website, e-magazine and social media platforms.
Develop skills in headline writing, news structure, copy editing and digital journalism.
Maintain professional journalism ethics, accuracy and confidentiality.

Other Specification

Students or recent graduates in Journalism, Mass Communication, Media Studies, International Relations, Political Science, English or related fields.
Strong interest in journalism, diplomacy, international affairs and current affairs.
Good Nepali and English writing skills.
Good research, communication and interpersonal skills.
Basic knowledge of digital media and social media platforms.
Willingness to learn, report from the field and work in a professional newsroom environment.
Previous journalism, campus media or writing experience will be an advantage.
