Job Description

An IT Support Manager is responsible for the computer systems within a company, overseeing installation, ensuring backup systems operate effectively, providing the technology infrastructures for an organisation and contributing to organisational policy regarding quality standards and strategic planning. IT Support Manager will work in every size of organisation in the college and the service sector, usually with staff, students and administrators. He/she will be the In Charge of service delivery, functional and systems management.

Key responsibilities:

  • Evaluating user needs and system functionality and ensuring the facilities meet these needs 
  • Planning and suggesting for maintenance and purchasing, obtaining competitive prices from suppliers, to ensure cost effectiveness
  • Scheduling upgrades and security backups of hardware and software systems
  • Researching and installing new systems
  • Ensuring the smooth running of all systems, including anti-virus software, print services and email provision
  • Ensuring that software licensing laws are adhered to providing secure access to the network for remote users
  • Ensuring the security of data from internal and external attack
  • Providing users with appropriate support and advice
  • Managing crisis situations, which may involve complex technical hardware or software problems
  • Mentoring and training new staff
  • Keeping up to date with the latest technologies
