Human Resources and Organisation Development (HROD) Director

The HROD Director is responsible for the overall administration, coordination, and evaluation of the HROD function on a strategic as well as operational level. S/he will involve in providing support, guidance, and leadership to the HROD function at the national level and will be responsible for implementing and executing HROD policies, processes, and strategies in alignment with the organization's goals and objectives.

Key Performance Areas and Main Responsibilities:

  • Identifies key focus areas of HR and OD at the national level and develops an annual strategic plan for HR.
  • Leads the implementation processes to achieve the set objectives.
  • Ensures the implementation of overall standards, guidelines, systems, and processes related to human resources throughout the HR cycle. This includes job design, recruitment and selection, onboarding, human resource development, performance management, compensation management and the retirement of coworkers.
  • Takes responsibility for the compensation process, ensuring the implementation of a fair and consistent compensation system. Conducts yearly reviews to align compensation with performance standards.
  • Facilitates performance conferences to support coworkers’ development and growth.
  • Maintains a strong understanding of National Labour Laws and HR administrative matters, ensuring compliance with the HR Manual terms. Stays updated on relevant developments and make necessary adjustments to policies and processes.
  • Stays informed about the HR training market and trends. Oversees the evaluation of supporting activities such as supervision, coaching, and team development. Conducts engagement and satisfaction surveys based on identified needs to enhance coworkers' performance and well-being.
  • Serves as the focal point for Protection against Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Harassment (PSHEA).
  • Implements and upholds the PSHEA standards and conducts orientations, training, and workshops to enhance coworkers’ capacity in implementing safeguarding policies and mitigating safeguarding issues. Ensures the compliance of overall safeguarding policies, including the Code of Conduct, Child Protection Policy, and
  • PSHEA, as well as other key policies and procedures of the organization.
  • Supports knowledge sharing and facilitates the capacity building of coworkers in human resources and core policies. Provides guidance and support to enhance HR practices and ensures alignment with all goals.

Basic Requirements:

  • Masters Degree in Management (specialization in Human Resources) with fifteen years of relevant
  • experience in the area of HR/OD Management, including a minimum of five years of experience in the leadership position at a senior management level
  • Experience in Human Resources planning, designing, recruiting, and implementing progressive HR strategies, systems, procedures, and practices
  • Deep understanding of compensation, benefits, and performance evaluation frameworks
  • Ability to deal with conflict effectively and to manage difficult situations confidently and calmly; Demonstrate ability to coach and counsel both executive-level management and coworkers
  • Extensive in-depth hands-on practical knowledge and experience of safeguarding issues, including legal frameworks, policies, procedures, incident management, and good practices

  • Problem-solving abilities to address complex HR challenges and develop innovative solutions
  • Exhibits a steadfast dedication to continuous learning and staying updated with the latest HR trends, best practices, and employment laws
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with coworkers at all levels of the organization
  • Willingness to travel as and when required
