Job Description

Roles and responsibilities of this job

We are seeking a compassionate, responsible, and patient-focused Health Assistant to provide quality care and support to patients in a mental healthcare setting. The ideal candidate should have strong communication and interpersonal skills, empathy, patience, and the ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team while maintaining patient safety, dignity, and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide basic care and support to patients in a mental healthcare setting.
Monitor patients’ physical health, behavior, and overall well-being.
Assist patients with personal hygiene and daily activities.
Support nurses and doctors during patient care and treatment.
Administer or assist with medication as directed by healthcare professionals.
Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive environment for patients.
Observe and report any changes in patients’ condition or behavior.
Provide emotional support and communicate with patients respectfully.
Maintain accurate and confidential patient records and reports.
Follow hospital policies, safety procedures, and patient-care standards.

Job Specification

Required qualifications for this job

Required Education Level:Diploma Certificate

Required Experience:More than 1 year

Other Specification

Diploma in Health Sciences, Nursing, General Medicine, or a related field preferred. Bachelor’s degree will be added advantage.
Previous experience as a Health Assistant, Healthcare Assistant, Caregiver, or in a similar healthcare role is an advantage.
Basic knowledge of mental health, patient care, and healthcare practices.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Compassionate, patient, and empathetic approach toward patients.
Ability to remain calm and professional in challenging or emergency situations.
Strong observation skills with the ability to identify and report changes in patients’ behavior or condition.
Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Understanding of patient confidentiality, safety, hygiene, and professional ethics.
Physically and emotionally capable of supporting patients with daily care needs.
