Karkhana is an education organization working to transform science education in Nepal through hands-on, curiosity-driven learning. We partner with schools across the country by providing science kits, teacher professional development, digital platforms, classroom support, and continuous mentoring so that every child experiences meaningful science learning.
This year, Karkhana is implementing the Karkhana Science Grant Program in 270 public schools across Nepal in collaboration with local governments and partner organizations.
Employment Type: Full-time (10 AM to 6 PM, Sunday to Friday)
Salary Range: NRs 20,000 to 25,000/
About the Role
We are looking for a highly organized, proactive, and mission-driven Grant School Coordinator to ensure the successful implementation of the Karkhana Science Program in all grant-supported schools.
You will be responsible for coordinating with schools, local governments, regional coordinators, teachers, and internal Karkhana teams to ensure that every grant school fulfills its commitments and receives timely support throughout the academic year.
Your success will be measured not by the number of activities completed, but by how effectively schools implement the program and improve classroom science learning.
Key Responsibilities
1. Program Implementation
- Ensure smooth implementation of the Karkhana Science Program in all assigned grant schools.
- Track implementation progress of all 270 grant schools.
- Coordinate with implementing teachers and school leaders.
- Ensure schools conduct all planned science lessons.
- Monitor overall implementation health of grant schools.
- Identify schools requiring additional support and coordinate interventions.
2. Teacher Support & Professional Development
- Coordinate teacher onboarding and orientation.
- Ensure implementing teachers participate in required trainings.
- Monitor teacher participation in Karkhana Virtual College.
- Support teachers in completing the KUSOED STEP Certification process.
- Coordinate mentoring, classroom observations, and follow-up support.
3. School Coordination
Maintain regular communication with:
- School principals
- School coordinators
- Implementing teachers
- Regional Coordinators
- Local government representatives (when required)
Ensure schools:- Submit monthly reports.
- Provide bi-weekly implementation updates.
- Share classroom photos, videos, and success stories.
- Participate in monitoring and evaluation activities.
- Continue active engagement throughout the academic year.
4. Monitoring & Reporting
Track key implementation indicators including:
- School onboarding status
- Teacher onboarding
- Lesson completion
- Classroom implementation
- Monthly reports
- Virtual College participation
- STEP Certification progress
- Classroom observations
- School Health status
- Missing materials
- Implementation challenges
- Success stories
- Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly implementation reports.
5. Grant Compliance
Ensure schools fulfill their commitments under the grant agreement by:
- Assigning implementing teachers
- Conducting regular science classes
- Using materials responsibly
- Protecting grant resources
- Providing regular reports
- Remaining responsive to communication
- Supporting monitoring visits
- Coordinate follow-up with schools that become inactive or fail to meet program expectations.
6. Coordination with Internal Teams
Work closely with:
- Program Success Community
- Regional Coordinators
- Teacher Professional Development Team
- Logistics & Dispatch Team
- Inventory Team
- Finance Team
- Communications Team
- Product & App Team
- Coordinate timely resolution of issues related to:
- Missing materials
- Kit distribution

7. Documentation & Impact
Collect and document:
- Classroom stories
- Teacher reflections
- Student learning experiences
- Best practices
- Case studies
- Photos and videos
- Support preparation of donor reports and program impact reports.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a bachelor's degree or pursuing bachelor’s degree (education, management, development studies, or related fields preferred)
- Has strong communication and coordination skills
- Enjoys working with schools and teachers
- Can manage multiple stakeholders simultaneously
- Is highly organized and detail-oriented
- Is comfortable using Google Workspace, spreadsheets, and digital tools
- Is willing to travel regularly across Nepal
- Believes in improving public education through hands-on learning
- Previous experience in education programs, school coordination, NGOs, or project management will be an advantage.
