We're looking for

We are looking for an outstanding Software Engineer to be responsible for the coding, design, performance, scaling and reliability of our flagship application with a strong focus on being able to seamlessly execute and manage frontend and backend requirements as necessary. You should have considerable experience building robust high performing platforms and systems. You must also be comfortable working closely together with not just the tech team but with cross departmental teams where you will work alongside the company management, digital marketers, data scientists in solving and executing company wide goals. Speed and agility are core to the success of a start-up that is poised for growth over the coming years and thus you will be responsible for maintaining an agile development strategy and environment within the team, lead them and positioning yourself for future leadership roles as the team grows in size over the upcoming months and years.

As SSE - you could expect to: 

• Lead the development, coding, performance, expansion and reliability of the overall platform
• Write well designed, testable, efficient code by using best software development practices
• Participate and be involved in discussions revolving around making key business decisions for the company
• Collaborate effectively across teams to solve problems, execute and deliver results
• Continuously initiate conversations around solutions that are focused around improving the platform to make it world class!
• Stay plugged into emerging technologies/industry trends and apply them into the development process 
• Improve our development process and system architecture for future expansion as backstreet is poised for growth 
• Produce architecture with clean interfaces, that are efficient and scalable
• Perform technical feasibility and trade off studies & guides others to perform these studies
• Solve production issues. Investigate and provide solutions to minimize the business impact due to outage
• Actively mentor and develop junior developers in all software development practices
• Participate in the hiring process (referrals, interviews, attending recruiting events or writing blogs)
• Onboard and mentors new team members, helps shape the culture of the team
