Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH invites applications from suitable candidates to work with Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Programme (REEEP)- Green Recovery and Empowerment with Energy in Nepal GREEN. REEEP-GREEN is a technical cooperation project agreed between the Government of Nepal (GoN) and the Federal Republic of Germany. With support of GIZ on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and co-financed by the European Union, REEEP-GREEN is executed by the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation and sets out to improve the preconditions for planning and implementation of measures for the promotion of renewable energies and the efficient use of energy in Nepal. The main objective of REEEP-GREEN is to create the regulatory, institutional, and private-sector conditions for disseminating renewable energy and improving energy efficiency in Nepal. REEEP-GREEN uses a multi-level approach consisting of five output areas: Output 1: Policy- Institutional and Regulatory Framework for Renewable Energy (RE) and Energy Efficiency (EE) at National Level; Output 2: Institutional Frameworks for RE and EE at Subnational Levels; Output 3: Sustainable Market Development for RE; Output 4: Dissemination of Results in the field of RE and EE; and Output 5: Energy Efficiency in Industries and Enterprises.

Qualification And Skills

  • Possesses a university degree (accountant, Finance, Economics) or adequate training and relevant work experience, which may be accepted in lieu of a university degree. Advanced mastery of MSWord and Excel as well as accountancy applications

General Functions: 

Under the supervision of the Program Manager and the Finance/Admin Manager the incumbent will assist with the following tasks:

  • Assist in the Financial and Administrative Department with all administrative and financial matters in accordance with the GIZ accounting rules and the mission standard rules and regulations
  • Files and maintain up-to-date all staff contracts and contact details; notifies changes concerning the staff members
  • Assist in the preparation of payroll and all salary and per diem payments;
  • Files and maintains up-to-date all supplier contracts and contact details;
  • Verifies supplier invoices, delivery notes, order forms and prepares payment documents
  • Inputting of invoices, payments 
  • Assist in all the required activities regarding the office bank and cash accounts;
  • Assist in the monitoring of the budget, financial reporting and bank reconciliation
  • Assist in interviews of clerical/secretarial/admin positions for local staff based on the needs of the mission
  • Assist in the handling of the petty cash account of the office and receipts/vouchers
  • Assist in the activities regarding all financial transactions with observers in the areas of deployment
  • Under the direct supervision of the office, management may participate in negotiations with the local suppliers and service providers
  • Assist the project manager in the liaison with the governmental authorities for the issuance of any relevant material, documentation, tax exemptions, etc. whenever required
  • Assist in all other activities that are required

NOTE:

  • All positions are open to men and women with no discrimination
  • For all positions, a good linguistic competence (spoken and written) in both English and Nepali is mandatory
  • All candidates must have sufficient computer skills to operate with electronic mail, word processing, public presentation and spreadsheet software
  • Flexibility required. Work is expected on occasions both in the evenings and weekends or even public holidays
  • Place of work in Kathmandu
