SABAH Nepal is a community based social-business organization which works towards strengthening the livelihoods of financially deprived and marginalized home-based workers (HBW)/artisans of Nepal. By enhancing and utilizing their own indigenous skills, SABAH Nepal helps in improving their economic opportunities and also conserving Nepal's heritage and craftsmanship.

Despite their inherited and/or acquired skills, HBWs are deprived of equal opportunity compared to their urban counterparts to grow professionally. They have less opportunities to participate in the market economy.  The problems range from the lack of access to market, market information and inadequate managerial technical skills. If the skills of these HBWs are properly channelized into entrepreneurship through provision of appropriate and cost-effecting business development support services it has potential impact on rural economy in terms of generating employment and increasing income.  SABAH Nepal is also helping women HBWs to strengthen their leadership skills, interpersonal skills, dialogue and negotiation skills to cope the biased gender norms that impede their overall growth. SABAH Nepal is focussed both on social and economic empowerment of women HBWs who are invisible, voiceless and unheard in the mainstream of the society and country.

Key Qualification & Experience 

  • Masters of Business Studies or related field is a must
  • 3+ years of prior experience in finance and accounting work mandatory

Job Description

Duration of initial contract: One year (with the possibility of extension)   

Responsibilities:

The Finance Officer will be accountable to Finance and Admin Manager on issues related to financial management. S/he will be managing the finance unit and ensure compliance with organizational financial policy, oversee overall financial management. The responsibility to be taken has been comprehensively includes as follows but these are not limited s/he should work on need basis as well.

Functions:

  • Ensure proper accounting systems and procedures are followed by the concerned stakeholders
  • Oversee budgets versus expenditures and design controlling mechanism
  • Regular monitoring of financial reports, transactions, and investigating anomalies or unusual transactions
  • Ensuring the statutory compliance of the Government of Nepal
  • Work closely with the finance and accounts department of the organisation for efficient operations 
  • Ensure that the financial transactions are maintained in the computerized accounting system
  • Verify all bills and invoices including supporting documents against the approved activities and submit for approval
  • Prepare financial reports of different activities and submit to various agencies wherever required
  • Ensure the submission of required legal and other documents to concerned authorities including tax offices, local government, etc
