Roles and responsibilities of this job

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Finance Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a background in accounting, taxation, bookkeeping, company law, and administration, preferably with experience in the hydropower sector or related project-based companies. This role will be based at our head office in Babarmahal, Kathmandu, and offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the financial management of our operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist with day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in compliance with company policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
⁠Support the preparation of financial statements, budgets, projections, and periodic management reports.
Perform bank reconciliations and ensure timely identification and resolution of discrepancies.
Prepare and submit invoices to the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) and follow up on collections as required.
⁠Handle TDS preparation, filing, and compliance in accordance with applicable tax regulations.
Monitor loan repayment schedules (principal and interest) in line with bank letters and banking facility agreement, and maintain a loan compliance calendar.
⁠Support statutory audits, bank audits, and tax filings by coordinating with external auditors and tax authorities.
Conduct basic financial analysis to support management decision-making, cost control, and revenue optimization.
⁠Assist in the implementation and maintenance of internal controls and financial procedures to safeguard company assets.
⁠Provide administrative and documentation support to the finance department, including record management and correspondence.
⁠Coordinate with other departments to gather financial data and support cross-functional initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience:

Semi-qualified Chartered Accountant / MBA / MBS with a focus on finance or accounting.
Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in accounting, taxation, bookkeeping, company law, and administration.
Previous experience in the hydropower sector or project-related companies is preferred.
Strong knowledge of Nepalese accounting standards, tax laws, and regulatory requirements.
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
