Burn Violence Survivors – Nepal, established in 2008, is one of the few organizations working specifically on prevention, protection, advocacy, curative and long-term recovery and rehabilitation of burns survivors. BVS-Nepal helps and supports survivors of burns accidents and violence, such as attempted homicide attacks, normally using kerosene or acid and cases of self-immolation and attempted suicide, often stemming from domestic violence. We have been able to help more than 8500 burns victims, till date, through medical and surgical, counseling, nutrition and physiotherapy since the inception of the organization. BVS-Nepal has successfully provided life skills and vocational trainings to thirty female burns violence survivors, to enable them to start a new life.

Burns Violence Survivors Nepal (BVS-Nepal) is a non-governmental organization. BVS-Nepal is a pioneering and the only organization so far focusing on burns and acid violence in Nepal. It works at all levels from ground to government, from individual to community. BVS-Nepal is looking for a dynamic and self-motivated applicant for the position of Field Officer at Janakpur.

Job Location: Janakpur with frequent visit to project area
No. of Position: 1
Employment Type: Full Time 
Project Period:  1 year with possibility of extension

Qualification, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Development Studies, Sociology, Gender Studies or PCL Nurse with minimum of three years of working experience in development sector;
  • Knowledge and experience working on gender issues, GBV, acid and burn violence, including response, referral pathways and livelihood support;
  • Experience in working with different level of government bodies with sound knowledge of planning process of local level;
  • Knowledge of experience in advocacy with governments bodies and concern stakeholders;
  • Good working knowledge with stakeholders and donor agencies;
  • Good report writing skills in english
  • Fluency in local language;
  • Sound in using computer MS Office Package: MS Word, Excel and power-point;
  • Good interpersonal skills and team spirit;
  • Can work under pressure and meet deadlines;

Key area of Accountability:

  • Take lead in implementing all the interventions of the project with ensuring the quality of services;
  • Take a lead in providing holistic support in the treatment of the burn survivors and their reintegration in society; 
  • Conduct regular home visits for beneficiaries follow up in and out of district;
  • Develop case study of each survivors and update data in a regular basis;
  • Maintain good and professional relationship with concerned staff of hospital, local level, district level authorities, stakeholders and beneficiaries;
  • Conduct the meeting with hospital, local level, district level authorities and stakeholders;
  • Produce monthly, bi-annual and annual project report including success stories of the beneficiaries;
  • Provide additional support as per the requirement of program/organization.
