Education and experience:

  •  Diploma/Bachelor/Masters in Journalism/ Communication, Photography or similar education level
  • At least 3 years of working experience on development agencies (I/NGO) 
  • 2-3 years of experience in disability sector or social development sector and working with related multi-lateral agencies/international agencies would be an advantage

Main objective of the role:

The CBM Field Communication Coordinator (Nepal/Asia) ensures accountable collection of high-quality client and partner stories, photographs, film footage and content for new media in Nepal and Asia and the field part of CBM’s Representative Child Sponsorship Program to support CBM Member Associations and their fundraising communication.

We are looking for someone who is/has

  • Photo-journalist with demonstrated ability to write compelling reports and stories from a fundraising perspective in English
  • Knowledge about video production and ability to take high quality videos are a plus
  • Good knowledge of development issues
  • Ability to work with modern communication and photo technology
  • Demonstrated ability to meet the required extensive travel and logistic demands
  • Experience with working and/or traveling in occasionally insecure areas and following strict safety & security protocols
  • Passion and commitment to the cause of helping people who are struggling to survive poverty and disability
  • Valid driving license
  • Aptitude to be managed remotely
  • Proficiency in English, Nepali and any other asian language would be an advantage
  • Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe, Premiere (Elements);Adobe Bridge

We are looking for someone who will:

  • Write compelling, comprehensive and truthful reports in English (human interest stories) + take high quality and strong/compelling pictures – according to agreed deliverables and within agreed timelines
  • Liaise with CBM Field Communication Manager regarding resource collection, give regular reports about status, planned activities, progress and roadblocks of work to the line manager
  • Engage and oversee local videography support as needed and organize all related logistics
  • Organise field visits and other duty travels well ahead of time, liaise with CBM partners regarding the pre-identification of clients, re transport, availability of field staff - and liaise with travel agents/hotels for accommodation,flight bookings, visas etc
  • Provide material for social media (short stories/pictures/video clips)
  • Sort pictures made with relevant description (correct IPTC) and upload them together with stories to CBM Online Media Archive
  • Accompany resource trips of CBM Member Associations as writer or photographer, if needed – and/or support related logistics
  • Support full and proper accountability of all expenses
