Americares, an international non-governmental organization registered in the US, has been working in Nepal immediately after Gorkha earthquake in field of health sector recovery, HSS, MHPSS and DRR.

Improving Maternal and Newborn Health (IMANh) is a project that Americares is going to implement in 2 rural municipalities (Khandadevi & Gokulganga) of Ramechhap district in partnership of local NGO-CHURDEP and in close collaboration with MoHP, DHO Ramechhap, local health facilities and rural-municipalities. Americares is seeking a competent, qualified and dynamic person for the position of Project Coordinator for its IMANh project in Ramechhap.

Job Description

REPORTS TO: MHPSS Program Coordinator

LOCATION: Kathmandu

DURATION: 2 months full-time starting September 1 with possibility of extension

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Female MHPSS Counselor (National) will:

  • Provide individual and group psychosocial counseling sessions to health care workers in hospital facilities affected by the earthquake, utilizing tailored and eclectic psychosocial approaches.
  • Liaise with hospital directors throughout the life cycle of the project to ensure provision of services is in alignment with identified need.
  • Implement sessions on weekly shift rotation schedules
  • Attend a 3 day Basic MHPSS orientation training
  • Provide weekly data reports to the MHPSS Program Coordinator related to: Identifying common symptoms, effective MHPSS approaches, individual and group sessions initiated, and follow-up sessions.
  • Maintain strict client and programmatic confidentiality
  • Provide regular feedback to the MHPSS Program Coordinator in weekly supervision and case-management meetings.
  • Ensure immediate and transparent communication with MHPSS Program coordinator in case of facility, management, and client challenge

QUALIFICATIONS

  • At least three years’ experience as a psycho-social counselor, with a trauma focus
  • Experience counseling health care workers preferred.
  • Proficiency in English and Nepali required.
  • Bachelor’s degree required and minimum 6 months of psycho-social training.
