Hydroplan Group has provided services to the renewables sector (mainly hydropower) for more than 30 years.  There are three parts to the group:-

  • Environmental, Research & Consents
  • Design, Engineering and Project Management
  • Asset Management including Operations, Maintenance and Monitoring

Job Description

Estimating technical aspects (positive and negative) of  Renewable Energy schemes requires good communication skills (especially written.) Typical tasks will include:

Job Descriptions: 

  • Estimating the Civil, Mechanical and Electrical elements of renewable Energy projects - hydro projects in particular
  • Producing tender packs and contract packs for suppliers and contractors
  • Liaising with suppliers and specialist sub-contractors to ensure that good and fair prices are achieved
  • Producing tender summary reports for review by colleagues and, ultimately, clients
  • Working with designers and environmental specialists to reach a compromise between any constraints and the economic viability of the project's options.
  • Work as part of a team to suggest improvements that will benefit our clients.

Qualifications

  • A formal engineering qualification (bachelor's Degree, Masters's)
  • Good knowledge of engineering quantities and programs
  • Ability to balance the needs of cost, quality, and delivery times
  • Be computer literate and ideally have a working knowledge of mapping or graphical software.
  • Knowledge of Model Form Contract Conditions would be useful
  • Strong quantitative, writing, communication, and analytical skills
  • High proficiency in MS office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Able to work within a dynamic environment with good attention to detail
  • Able to work to tight deadlines and self-manage priorities against multiple tasks
  • Able to communicate externally in a clear English language and in an approachable manner

    Shift Work

    • The post will be required to undertake some shift work (early or late)
    • Some weekend work may be required from time to time
    • Overtime will be paid where appropriate
