  • Experience relevant to developing environmental management plans for organizations. Relevant experience includes being able to identify and assess  environmental issues, conduct gap analyses, and develop action plans, preferably at an international standard. 

Job Description

The candidate will build a comprehensive plan for ICIMOD that will enable the Centre to systematically plan, implement, and routinely monitor an improved greener approach to environmental management.

The scope of such a plan can focus on the following components:

Planning

  • Identify areas that can be made more environmentally friendly
  • Analyse gaps and make recommendations for improved solutions
  • Establish long terms objectives and targets for each proposed new activity
  • Designate responsibility for achieving objectives and targets
  • Determine what resources will be required to achieve each objective/target
  • Establish a time frame for  each of the above

Implementation

  • Review operational controls for identified activities
  • Establish systematic procedures with operating criteria for each activity
  • Identify training requirements and who is to be trained (this will include periodic assessments and record-keeping)

Monitoring

  • Establish procedures for monitoring  for each objective

Reporting

  • Formalize reporting protocol
  • Recommend reporting standards which adhere to international standard practices

Deliverables

  • A comprehensive environmental management plan document for ICIMOD
