Roles and responsibilities of this job
As the Head of Engineering, you will own the engineering function end-to-end. You will lead a high-performing team of 20–23 engineers organized across four core domains Web, Mobile, Database, and Integrations each led by a dedicated Technical Lead.
This is a leadership + execution role. We need a leader who can establish a long-term engineering vision while remaining close enough to the technology to ensure predictable, high-quality delivery. Key Responsibilities
Lead & Scale the Engineering Organization
Own the people, culture, delivery, and technical direction of the engineering department.
Mentor and manage 4 Technical Leads, fostering a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Drive hiring, onboarding, performance management, and career development in partnership with HR and leadership.
Drive Execution & Delivery
Own end-to-end engineering delivery, managing sprint planning through to monthly release cycles.
Ensure predictable, high-quality output across parallel workstreams.
Translate complex product and business goals into executable, clear technical plans while proactively managing risks and dependencies.
Set Technical Direction & Architecture
Guide system architecture decisions to ensure scalability, security, performance, and maintainability.
Establish and enforce strict engineering standards across code quality, testing, documentation, and CI/CD.
Support Technical Leads in resolving complex technical challenges and actively manage/reduce technical debt.
Champion AI Initiatives
Lead the adoption of AI within the engineering function, both in user-facing product features and internal development workflows.
Identify automation and analytics opportunities to enhance platform capabilities.
Ensure all AI implementations are responsible, secure, scalable, and compliant with data privacy standards.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner closely with Product, QA, Implementation, and Support teams to align engineering execution with business priorities.
Communicate delivery progress, team capacity, and technical trade-offs transparently to US-based executive leadership.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or a related field.
12+ years of progressive software engineering experience, with at least 3–5 years in a dedicated engineering leadership role managing multiple teams or technical leads.
Strong hands-on development background before transitioning into leadership, with a deep understanding of modern software architecture and scalable system design.
AI Exposure: Practical experience evaluating and applying AI or automation technologies within a product or engineering context.
Communication: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams and different time zones (US/Nepal).
Preferred Qualifications
Proven experience in a product-based SaaS company.
Exposure to ERP systems, enterprise-level platforms, or highly integrated architectures.
Experience scaling engineering workflows, estimation metrics, and release practices during periods of rapid organizational growth.
Familiarity with HR tech, staffing, or workforce management industries.
