Job Description

Time Bound Contract - Six months to One year

  • Provide overall coordination on communications in the response, to focus internal and external messaging to media, public, staff and partners and be a focal point for WVIN with international media outlets.
  • Develop content specific information for media and social media channels that highlights community voice, positions WVIN and their partners within Nepal and internationally
  • Help manage media activity, ensuring coordination of media, donor and supporter visits and information enquiries
  • Support issues/reputation management related to the response in partnership with WVIN, partners, donors, government and response management.
  • Visit impacted areas and WV programmes to in coordination with field communications staff to provide compelling content for Partnership public engagement needs.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • Master’s Degree in Mass Communication/Journalism or relevant area with at least 10 years of communications in disaster and emergency response in an international context
  • Empirical knowledge of: Script-writing, Photography, Videography (including sound and microphones, and lighting), Non-linear video editing, Sound mixing, Satellite communication technologies for voice and data, FTP File Transfer Protocols
  • Experience in media relations and public speaking, media spokesperson
  • Empirical knowledge of International Humanitarianism and internal and external humanitarian Standards and codes
