Program Intern

Project Humane Nepal is a non-profit organization whose mission is to break the cycle of fear and abuse toward street dogs and mistreatment of pet dogs through its educational programming, and thus reduce dog suffering and bite cases. We are dedicated to raising awareness about dog welfare issues and empowering the youth and the community to change the lives of animals around them, particularly stray dogs.

Primary Duty: Will work closely with the Program Director and Education, Program & Outreach Coordinator to assist with humane education classes, including facilitating presentations, as required as well as provide day to day administrative support. 

Essential Job Duties

  • Plan, coordinate and deliver humane education presentation in schools and colleges
  • Assist with planning and preparation for community outreach, marketing and fundraising events as directed by the Program Director; promote PHN and our humane education program at community and fundraising events; prepare displays and materials to be used at such events
  • Assist with research, filing, data entry, and recording and maintaining accurate and complete financial records
  • Process daily/monthly accounting transactions; and review/analyze financial information
  • Prepare and submit periodic project financial reports to the Program Director
  • Organize procurement and purchase/maintain program materials, supplies and equipment
  • Handle PHN’s social media accounts; create engaging content and update regularly
  • Assist in maintaining PHN’s website content
  • Assist with logistics for delivery of humane education programs
  • Assist with photography and video editing work 
 
  • Support in other programmatic tasks as required 
  • Additional duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Strong public speaking skills including experience presenting information to a wide variety of audiences
  • Excellent communication (verbal + written) and counselling skills in English and Nepali
  • Demonstrated ability to engage, inspire and instruct children
  • Accounting knowledge – understands accounting concepts
  • Highly organized, and detail-oriented self-starter, and able to work independently
  • Energetic, hard-working, and a team player; good interpersonal skills
  • Open to learning
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure, within strict deadlines
  • Computer literacy including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Email, etc

Education Requirement

  • A Bachelor’s degree in communication, management/accounting, education, social work or related fields
  • 1+ year experience in social media/marketing, teaching, accounting, management or other related field
  • In-depth working knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest and Google+

Compensation and Benefits: The Program Intern is a paid internship position.
