Institution for Suitable Actions for Prosperity (ISAP) is now implementing 5-year project named JNS Agriculture Promotion Project in Nepal (APPIN) funded by Japan Nepal Society (JNS), Tokyo. The project aims to increase the income of community people by encouraging the production and marketing of high-quality vegetables and fruits, thereby promoting business and industrialization of the agriculture sector. We are looking for the following position to successfully implement APPIN.

Job Description

Institution for Suitable Actions for Prosperity (ISAP) is implementing Small Agro-Farmers Income Improvement Project (SAFII) with the goal of improving living standards of 450 small land holding farmers who live along the Dolalghat-Chautara Road Corridor in Sindhupalchowk District through fresh vegetable production and sale. SAFII works with  farmers  to improve their skills and knowledge,  to introduce new technology (such as plastic house plantation, improved seed varieties, rain-water harvesting ponds), and to develop market systems to improve backward and forward linkages in the value chain. Our vision is to transform this area's economy and make it known for commercial vegetable farming just as Kavre’s Panchkhal or Palpa’s Madan Pokhara.

ISAP is currently seeking a suitable  candidate for Agriculture Officer for SAFII project who would be based in our site office- Sindupalchowk. The candidate should have a Master's degree in Agriculture with 3 years of experience or a Bachelor's degree with 5 years of work experience in the similar position and a sound knowledge and understanding of agriculture sector. The candidates should have strong willingness to travel project areas and beyond depending on the situation.He/She should have an excellent communication, presentation and reporting skills as well as motor-cycle driving licence. 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Assist, support and manage all aspects of project planning, development and implementation for range of projects, including developing project plans, coordinating resources, managing budgets, meeting reporting requirement and support project related activities to ensure project outcomes are achieved on time, budget, to quality standards and within agreed scope
  • Establish and maintain stakeholder’s relationships through effective communication, negotiation and issues management to engage stakeholders and ensure project deliverable are met
  • Provide technical guidance to farmer groups during the implementation of the project
  • Take responsibilities in organizing meetings and events
  • Takes care of administrative duties in the site office and liaises on these with head office
  • Monitor and evaluate project activities in site day by day and report to the project coordinator
  • Provide advice and information to farmer groups/ stakeholders on emerging project issues
  • Prepare daily work schedule to implement project in effective manner
  • Carries out monitoring of the use of project resources
  • Report to Project Team Leader if any technical issue arises during the implementation of the project
