Roles and responsibilities of this job

We are looking for a highly skilled Design Engineer with more than 5 years of experience in Steel Structure Design and Analysis. The candidate should have proficiency in structural analysis, CAD, and BIM software, and a strong understanding of local and international building codes. This role involves preparing detailed drawings, documentation packages, and providing technical support throughout the design, fabrication, and erection stages.

Key Responsibilities:

Design & Documentation:

Develop and prepare detailed 2D/3D CAD drawings, plans, and BIM models for structural steel projects.
Incorporate engineers’ calculations, specifications, and architectural requirements into drawings.
Create comprehensive documentation packages including layouts, elevations, sections, and connection details.
Prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs) and material lists for procurement.

Technical & Compliance:

Apply structural drawing techniques and conventions for clarity and accuracy.
Ensure drawings meet project specifications, NBC 105:2020/2025, NBC 111, IS 800, and IS 1893 standards.
Perform calculations for material quantities, weights, and seismic loads.
Review and incorporate feedback from engineers, architects, and fabricators.

Collaboration & Support:

Work closely with structural engineers, architects, and fabrication teams.
Assist in preparing tender documents and project proposals.
Conduct site visits to verify completed work against designs.
Provide technical support and resolve design ambiguities during fabrication and construction.

Software & Tools:

Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, Tekla, SDS/2, or Advance Steel.
Experience with ETABS, SAP2000, and BIM platforms is highly desirable.
Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite for documentation and reporting.

Other Specification

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s in Structural Engineering preferred).
Minimum 5 years of professional experience in structural steel design and analysis.
Strong knowledge of structural steel fabrication, erection processes, and technical drawing standards.
Understanding of seismic design philosophy and material specifications in Nepal.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce precise technical drawings.
Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Strong skills in AutoCAD, Revit, BIM platforms, or Tekla.
