  • 2+ years of experience in MySQL/MariaDB, MSSQL Server Administration required
  • Strong knowledge of database design, administration, and architecture
  • Strong knowledge of stored procedure and query optimization
  • Understanding of MSSQL's underlying physical and logical files
  • Understanding of MySQL’s underlying storage engines, such as InnoDB and MyISAM
  • Experience with backups, restores and recovery models
  • Experience with cloud-based databases such as Amazon Relational Database

Job Description

Job Summary:

The DBA position will be responsible for overseeing the database design and the ongoing support and administration of databases for a specific application or subset of applications. The DBA will also be responsible for performing database change management, and performance tuning, capacity planning and monitoring and reporting of critical events and documentation in addition to the regular responsibilities of the DBA. This is a “hands-on” position requiring solid technical skills, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Configure and maintain database servers, including monitoring of system health and performance and database processes to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security
  • Provide MySQL/MariaDB, MSSQL instances, both in clustered and non-clustered configurations, and HA groups 
  • Minimize database downtime and manage parameters to provide fast query responses 
  • Write and debug complex SQL and understand the best ways to incorporate database requests into application programs
  • Create data migration/conversion techniques for system conversions or upgrades
  • Manage Production, QA and development database environments
  • Learn relevant business processes and understand their data flow, criticality, and dependencies
  • Allocate system storage and plan storage requirements for database systems
  • Upgrade database version and security patching to comply with security needs
  • Perform periodic health checks and reports on database systems
  • Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes 
  • Configure and maintain Amazon Redshift clusters 
  • Develop innovation, strategies, processes, and best practices
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to database integrity, performance, blocking and deadlocking, replication, log, connectivity, and security
