PROJECT DESCRIPTION

USAID Trade and Competitiveness Activity is a five-year project to increase Nepali private sector participation intargeted global value chains by making them competitive, resilient, and sustainable. The Activity will chart a new growth path for private companies by supporting them to capitalize on global opportunities – targeting quality and high value exports (of products and services). It aims to foster sustainable growth, in selected value chains, by incentivizing actors (both private and public) through investments, innovations, employment, and a business enabling environment to expand their integration into the global market. The Activity is working to achieve the goal through the following objectives:

  • To increase access to market-based financial and non-financial services.
  • To increase productivity in sectors with high growth and employment potential; and
  • To improve the investment climate and business enabling environment, for targeted sectors.

We are seeking a qualified candidate to fill the role of the Creative Communicator as a consultant in Kathmandu.The consultancy will be for a period of performance of six (6) months with a level of effort of 90 days.

OBJECTIVE

The objective of this consultancy is to support USAID Trade and Competitiveness with the development of creative content highlighting accomplishments, success stories, partnership, etc. to be used in different communication platforms.

The consultant will report directly to the Communication Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support brand development through strategic storytelling and marketing via key communication platforms and products.
  • Craft creative content ranging from written texts to short reels/videos and photo stories for use through different channels (websites, social media, videos, presentations, brochures and magazines).
  • Bring analytical abilities combined with strong writing skills to turn technical information (reports, policy papers, etc.) into accessible communication products such as fact sheets, briefing papers, press release, Op-Eds, social media content and monthly bulletins.
  • Provide mentorship and support to USAID Trade and Competitiveness with strategic guidance in developing audience friendly communication products including pictures and videos.
  • Liaise with media to amplify the work of the Activity including developing media brief and identify creative ways to enhance the visibility and outreach of the Activity.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marking or related field.
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience with a proven professional record working in the field of communication and storytelling
  • Excellent spoken and written English and Nepali Language
  • Proficiency in videography, photography and hands-on experience on editing short reels/videos and converting them into compelling story
  • Fast, accurate, creative and versatile writing and content production skills (short videos reels, photo stories etc.), including for digital media.
  • Strong ability to see newsworthy stories quickly and easily
  • Ability to analyze complex information quickly and simply for audiences

Location: Kathmandu, with travel to other locations of the country as required. Note that Deloitte Consulting Overseas Projects, LLC will reimburse for lodging and transportation based on actuals for required field visits outside of homebase.
