Job Description

Accountability: You will be working in close contact and coordination with the project management team.

Job Summary:

In coordination with the organization's management team, you will ensure a smooth, professional and attentive development of the children involved in our projects in Bodgaun.  

Qualification and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Psychology or Bachelor's Degree in any discipline with one-year Post-Graduate Diploma in Psychological Counseling and three years' relevant work experience or, Master's Degree in Psychology or Master's Degree in any discipline with one-year Post-Graduate Diploma in Psychological Counseling and one-year relevant work experience.
  • Experience of working with vulnerable children (6-13 years old) and young people 

Responsibilities:

1. Planning

  • Design/ develop detailed plan for psychosocial counselling.
  • Prepare individual specific plans with impact indicators, clear methodologies and timeframe for the identified children who need special care and pedagogical attention. 
  • Prepare schedule for activities in coordination with the management team.
  • Prepare monthly action plan focused on pedagogical objectives. 
  • Identify referral centers (counselling, child-psychology) in the area. 

2. Implementation

  • Identify students with special requirements and create tailored plans to meet the students’ developmental and educational needs. 
  • Be active part of the village life, not only during school hours, in order to observe children lives and behaviors to support their balanced growth. 
  • Identify psychological and physical abilities, and environmental factors which have impact on the students' functioning in a nursery school, school or educational institutions.
  • Support in the social, moral, emotional and intellectual development of individual child and youth.
  • Consult and collaborate effectively with parents/guardians and teachers regarding students with identified concern and needs.
  • Collaborate with a counselling and guidance center in diagnostic and post-diagnostic processes.
  • Organize and facilitate training workshops.
  • Conduct problem-prevention activities and tasks supporting the educational function of schools and other educational institutions, including support offered to teachers in addressing problems related to education and care.
  • Take measures which help students develop their competencies and potential in order to enhance the effectiveness of their learning process and improve their functioning.
  • Value and respond to the diversity and individual differences of students.
  • Encourage the values of integrity, compassion, respect, responsibility, collaboration and dynamism in students and other staff.
  • Manage documents, maintain the database, and prepare the activity for children and young people, and reporting the events.
  • Engage students to ensure a lively, warm and friendly environment.
  • Work for the independence and empowerment of students and parents.
  • Manage classroom crises and resolve possible conflicts.

3. Reporting

  • You will directly report to the Coordinator of the project. 
  • Prepare weekly report for your work. 
  • At the end of the month submit to the Coordinator the progress report highlighting eventual difficulties and the proposed ways to resolve the same.
  • Keep all records in a safe place ensuring confidentiality. 

4. Representation/Communication/Coordination

  • Participate in different missions, meetings, seminars, workshops, campaigns, trainings and rallies in home and abroad when assigned by the management.
  • Maintain contact, liaison, network and coordination with key relevant stakeholders (e.g. beneficiaries, community leaders, local and national government officials, and other NGOs) with the objective of ensuring good cooperation and partnerships.

5. Approach and methodology 

In line with principles, methodology and approach of the organization:

  • Plan and use different styles of interacting with different actors which are required depending on the content and tailored on the kind of class/students.
  • Use innovative pedagogies while demonstrating an understanding of current ELT Practices
  • Identify students with special requirements and create tailored plans to meet the students’ needs. 
  • Guide students by assessing the special educational requirements by offering the best possible inclusive opportunities. 
  • Engage students to ensure a lively, warm and friendly environment.
  • Work for the independence and empowerment of students and parents. 

6. Miscellaneous

  • Perform any other duties/responsibilities as assigned by the project management team or the organization's management.
