BACKGROUND
The Emergency Response Activities of Strengthening Systems for Better Health activities aims to plan, manage and deliver technical and material support and will be implemented in close collaboration with GoN counterparts at federal, provincial, district and municipal levels. The geographic scope of the activities will include (but not necessarily be limited to) Karnali Province and Province 5.
The Consultant will be recruited to support the Emergency Response activities of Strengthening Systems for Better Health. Being the part of the team to plan, manage and deliver technical and material support for the Government of Nepal’s (GoN) response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Consultant will coordinate with and provide technical support to Health Offices, District Disaster Committees and Municipalities with high case load to effectively implement case identification, tracing and tracking based on the national and provincial protocols and guidelines as advised by Epidemiology and Disease Control Division and Health Emergency Operation Center.
SPECIFIC SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Consultant will be hired and mobilized for up to four months period, and is contingent upon availability of funding, approval from the funding agency and concurrence from GoN counterparts. Scope of work, assigned locations and scope of responsibilities may be subject to revision as priority support needs evolve during implementation of this support.
The Consultant will support to Health Offices, District Disaster Committees and Municipalities with high case load to effectively implement case identification, tracing and tracking based on the national and provincial protocols and guidelines as advised by Epidemiology and Disease Control Division and Health Emergency Operation Center.

About the organization
USAID’s Strengthening Systems for Better Health (SSBH) Activity is a 6-year project aimed at improving health outcomes in Nepal, particularly for the most marginalized and disadvantaged groups in the country. SSBH supports the Government of Nepal’s efforts to expand access to and use of quality maternal, newborn and child health and family planning services, with a specific focus on newborn care and is designed to achieve three major outcomes:
(i) improving access to and utilization of equitable healthcare services,
(ii) improving the quality of health services at facility and community levels and
(iii) improving health systems governance, within the context of federalism.
The project is implemented in close collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Population at federal level and with provincial and municipal governments, health facilities and other key health sector stakeholders at sub-national levels.
