  • A good level of fitness at altitude, where the primary mode of travel will be trekking on foot over mountainous terrain
  • Able to spend extended periods in the field (100% based on specific construction sites)

Job Description

  • Assist, and support Project Supervisor in accomplishing the goals of the project.
  • Carry out a detailed technical survey of water supply and sanitation systems and ensure construction quality.  
  • Prepare design, Cost estimation of water supply projects, school latrines, sanitation components, and rehabilitation/maintenance of water and sanitation structures; also prepare detailed supporting documents for maintenance and rehabilitation of specific water and sanitation structures.
  • Check/monitor design and cost estimation prepared by them. 
  • Prepare annual sectional budget, cash flows and output plans of projects, annual sectional plan, and material requisition of construction materials; send for certification and approval with relevant supporting electronic copies and support to prepare annual procurement plan as per donor requirement.
  • Inspect the construction material as per the brand and specifications specified in the material requisition.
  • Take initiation for the management of non-local materials delivery and ensure with field staffs on materials received or not in projects as per the material requisition and cost estimation. 
  • Approve the work plan of the Project Supervisor and maintain documentation.
  • Ensure the water quality, recommend treatment in systems, and reporting to line manager and technical department at Head office 
  • Help and manage the construction works, oversee and provide feedback, and technical advice on water schemes and sanitation work of new construction and rehabilitation activities.
  • Keep relevant documents for required modification in the construction of any specific structure and share them with the technical department. 
  • Attend Ward-Water Sanitation and Hygiene-Coordination Committee (W-WASH-CC), and WSUC meeting to motivate and assist in implementation planning problem solving;
  • Prepare payment authorization against the progress in the construction of Water and Sanitation; 
  • Prepare material requisition and purchase order based on cost estimation and proceed for approval 
  • Inspect the non-local material ensuring the brand and specification specified in the material requisition/purchase order.
  • Support for Water Safety plan training to W-WASH-CC and WSUC and also support on training staffs on Water and Sanitation; 
  • Identify training needs and development plan for school and stakeholders
  • Maintain good relationships within the team, in house staff (Donor and implementing team), partners and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor and ensure the water quality at baseline, implementation and competition of project and prepare Water quality report with GPS reading;
  • Undertake periodic technical studies as specified by technical division.
  • Report regularly to the line manager and technical division if specific. 
  • Accomplish any other responsibilities outlined by the line manager
  • Any other related project activities as required by the Line manager.
  • Conduct/Ensure technical pre-feasibility survey of water supply and sanitation projects during the dry season and recommend approval.

Note: The salary will be given as per the organizational rules and regulations.
