ORGANIZATIONAL LEARNINGS: As part of Mercy Corps’ agency-wide Organizational Learning Initiative, all team members are responsible for spending 5% of their work time in formal and/or non-formal professional learning activities.
ACCOUNTABILITY TO BENEFICIARIES: Mercy Corps team members are expected to support all efforts towards accountability, specifically to our beneficiaries and to international standards guiding international relief and development work while actively engaging beneficiary communities as equal partners in the design, monitoring and evaluation of our field projects.

WORKS DIRECTLY WITH: Deputy Chief of Party, M&E Manager, Resilience Program Coordinator and Component Program Managers; other program staff as required.
ACCOUNTABLE TO: Chief of Party PAHAL, Position Description; National Staff Policy Handbook; Code of conduct and Mercy Corps policy and procedures.

A Communications Specialist candidate will have demonstrated skills and experience in collecting, formulating and disseminating project information in the most effective and efficient manner , keeping the target audience in mind. S/he will have the ability to communicate effectively with beneficiaries, stakeholders, donors and team members of varied work styles and cultures and will be able to view people and situations within their greater context and absorb new information with ease. S/he will follow procedures, and meet deadlines with flexibility and creativity in planning and problem solving. S/he will have a proven ability to learn quickly, multi-task, prioritize, take initiative, be accountable for results, understand the larger picture while remaining focused on the details, work within a complex and sensitive setting and to follow laws and security protocols. The Communications Specialist should develop a strong understanding of PAHAL program and should be able to express, disseminate and document ideas clearly and convincingly.
The most successful Mercy Corps team members have a strong commitment to teamwork and accountability, thrive in evolving and changing environments and make effective written and verbal communication a priority in all situations. Mercy Corps Team members represent the agency both during and outside of work hours when deployed in a field posting or on a visit/TDY to a field posting.
