 Women LEAD Nepal is looking for a creative, organized, and detailed-oriented individual who has a strong interest in women’s rights to work directly with the Communications Team as their Communications Officer. The Officer will work with the Communications Team with the development and creation of creative content for Women LEAD’s communication efforts, including graphics, videos, photos, and other multimedia projects.
 

The Communication Team is dedicated to communicating the impact of Women LEAD’s programs. As a small, dynamic group of storytellers, we use different platforms—such as writing, photography, video, and design—to amplify the voices of our program participants and explain the importance of our work. The Communications Officer will join the team at a critical time of organizational growth. This position will allow individuals to gain an in-depth view at how nonprofits use both traditional and new media to further their goals.

DUTIES OF THE COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER:

The Communications Department is responsible for supporting all communication needs of various departments of Women LEAD and all their programs. Additionally. It is also responsible for showcasing the impactful work of Women LEAD to external and internal stakeholders. The primary role of the Communications Officer is to execute the communications strategy of the Communication’s Coordinator by doing the following: 

  • Create original and engaging content including graphics for Women LEAD Nepal’s social media channels, which are updated regularly. Ensure our communications strategy is consistent across all our channels, specifically Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and our Website.
  • Lead the creation and development of materials such as graphics, photos and videos that communicate the impact and importance of our programs.
  • Take photos of Women LEAD Nepal’s programs and edit photos in Lightroom, Camera Raw, or other photo editing software.
  • Design communications content on Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator to meet organizational and programmatic needs.
  • Archive any photos taken into Women LEAD’s archiving system.
  • Brainstorm and execute the development of video concepts. Manage the direction of video shoots, including all pre-production tasks as well as any and all production tasks during video shoots. 
  • Upload content to online channels such as Facebook and YouTube.
  • Archive video footage taken into Women LEAD's archiving system.
  • Edit video footage in Adobe Premiere.
  • Produce supplementary animation content for videos using Adobe After Effects. 
  • Record audio with the use of lapel mics and remaster them in Adobe Audition.
  • Respond to inquiries on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. 
  • Conduct Regular website maintenance and update content, including identifying content needs and generating compelling stories of our work and impact to ensure it is always current and portrays a comprehensive picture of what Women LEAD is achieving in Nepal.
  • Monitor site statistics and research and develop new ways to improve engagement and increase site traffic.
  • Liaise with our Website Developer to upgrade the website as needed.

 EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor’s student or graduate, preferably in, fine arts, digital design, film, communications, or any related field
  • A passion for creative storytelling and promoting women’s rights
  • Experience shooting video footage and using video editing software, such as Adobe Premiere
  • Must be meticulous, technical, organized, and creative at the same time
  • Color and sound finishing experience is a plus
  • Forward thinking and able to prioritize tasks
  • Must have excellent writing and grammar skills
  • Ability to work independently and with little supervision
  • At least 1-2 years working in digital production

 This is a full-time position with a minimum contract duration of 2 years. The Communications Officer will start in September.
