Doko Recyclers (DR), a social enterprise, is the leading provider of comprehensive waste and environmental services in Kathmandu Valley and outside. DR serves customers in residential, commercial, industrial and municipal markets throughout the valley.

We implement methods to help you segregate waste at its source into different categories before it enters our waste stream. Once it enters our waste stream we continue to separate your waste into different recyclable categories ensuring that the right materials get to the right industries. These industries then extract and reuse existing resources from the waste you give us to create new goods. Our shredding, e-waste, and composting services in addition to our waste pick ups, awareness training workshops, and waste segregation infrastructure setup all allow you to do this instinctively in your own homes and office spaces.

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Communications Manager. As a Communications Manager, you will be responsible for waste management consultancy and developing partnerships with development agencies. You will also be responsible for drafting, coordinating and executing both external and internal communication plans and tactics. You will cultivate external client relations, internal business and department head relationships, and will be accountable for the company’s communication strategy. Your work will also involve providing support and professional guidelines to other members in the communications team.

Responsibilities and Duties 

Partnership Projects and Grants 

  • Writing proposal on behalf of the company for projects in waste management and related fields 
  • Actively look for national and international grants openings that aligns with objective of the company and submit applications in coordination with team 
  • Connecting with relevant stakeholders in the development sector to seek their area of interest in sustainability and environmental sector 

Communications and Advocacy 

  • Regular communication to the audience to spearhead our sustainability measures in waste management using tools such as newsletters, blogs, social media platforms etc..Lead the ongoing design, development and delivery of digital communications. 
  • Organise or actively participate in relevant online and offline events on subjects relevant to the company’s objectives 
  • Contribute to the creation of marketing & fundraising materials, brochures & publications, oversee the content creation, strategy, analysis, and reporting of the content produced 

Team Leadership 

  • Support in setting a team culture which motivates team members and work towards creating a friendly environment for everyone to grow professionally 
  • Become team’s lead in accessing everyone’s progress, workflow and track activities in overview 
  • Create monthly and quarterly plans for teams focus area 
  • Regular check-ins with team members to gauge the workload and act as a mentor 

Business Development 

In coordination with the team, approach clients for our services 

  • Waste management and recycling related services 
  • CSR collaborations with corporate partners 
  • Workshops with clients
  • Contribute in growth of Tatwa - A Sustainability Store by Doko Recyclers 

Other Requirements/ Specification: 

  • Has interest to work in a social venture, seeks growth in this sector. 
  • Proven working experience as a manager/team lead in current or past roles. 
  • Bachelor degree in a relevant field. Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or related discipline will be well regarded. Master degree will be an added advantage 
  • Minimum of three years of experience in the communications field.
  • Experience working with networks/membership organisations preferred. 
  • Held responsibility for marketing plans, content and client-facing partnership management (managing client relationships).
