Established in 2009, YUWA is a registered not for profit, purely youth run and led organization working to promote youth participation through empowerment and advocacy. YUWA was born out of a group of committed youths, unofficially working in this sector since 2005. The initial focus was to develop leadership skills of the involved youths, to train as youth activists and to advocate for change, thus resulting into a wide and diverse array of knowledge, skills and experience in this sector. It led to the realization of the seriousness of youth issues and the need to act, which, finally took the shape of YUWA

Who we are looking for

The Communication and Documentation Officer leads YUWA’s intra and inter communication program and manages the implementation of the Communication Strategy. Ensures timely and appropriate communication to support YUWA’s activities and projects, in alignment with the strategic plan.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage the content and coordinate YUWA’s communication platforms. This includes strategic planning and development of communications
  • Updating activities of YUWA within 24 hours of program completion in social media sites
  • Perform Intra and Inter Communication of Organization
  • Update and maintain the website of the organization
  • Handling of Telephone Calls and SMS Service
  • Directing YUWA's Publications such as e-newsletter, monthly report, journals and blogs 
  • Develop, support and promote YUWA's goals, including message development, social media content creation and media outreach
  • Expanding organizational horizon through attending in-house and out-house meetings 
  • Develop and disseminate public relations materials that increase visibility among stakeholders and relevant policymakers
  • Work in close collaboration with Program Officer to plan and implementation of the programs and workshops
  • Develop and maintain documentation and filing system of YUWA including manual and/or computerized information files
  • Organize the storage and preservation of all the publication materials including reports
  • Maintain a set of documentation (pre-session and in-session documents and reports) of meetings/training organized
  • Collection, compilation and production of Case Studies and success stories
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Office Supervisor

Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (both English and Nepali)
  • Excellent critical thinking skills and the ability to exercise good judgment and solve problems quickly and effectively
  • Working experience in the field of Communication would be a plus point
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communication or related discipline with a minimum of 1 year of experience in communication, documentation, production of case studies and success stories

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Proficient in MS Office applications
  • Ability to work well in a team and independently
  • Capability to multi-task and work under pressure
  • Basic skill on Photoshop and video editing
