Roles and responsibilities of this job

We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled Associate System Engineer to join our infrastructure team. This role focuses on the administration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments and private cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about open-source technologies, automation, and cloud platforms, with a keen interest in growing their career in Linux systems and cloud engineering.

Reporting To: Senior System Engineer / IT Manager

Key Responsibilities

RHEL Server Build & Configuration

Assist in RHEL server builds and configurations (physical and virtual).
Install, configure, and maintain RHEL 7/8/9 servers.
Perform system patching, updates, and kernel management.
Manage users, groups, file permissions, ACLs, and SELinux policies.
Configure and maintain systemd services, logging, and boot processes.
Implement basic security hardening under supervision.

Operational Tasks

Handle L2 Linux support tickets (user management, basic troubleshooting).
Monitor system performance and generate health reports.
Perform routine maintenance and manage basic filesystem/LVM tasks.
Assist in backup verification and restore testing.

Automation & Patch Management

Support Ansible playbook execution for routine tasks.
Help with patch management using Red Hat Satellite.
Write and maintain Bash scripts for automation tasks.
Validate scripts in development environments and maintain version control.

Private Cloud Infrastructure (Associate Level)

Support private cloud infrastructure (OpenStack, VMware, or equivalent).
Assist in VM provisioning, storage, and virtual networking.
Work with hypervisors (KVM/QEMU) and container platforms (Podman, Docker).
Assist in basic high-availability cluster configurations.

Troubleshooting & Incident Management

Perform first- and second-level Linux system troubleshooting.
Analyze system logs, kernel messages, and diagnostics.
Respond to infrastructure tickets within SLA timelines and escalate complex issues appropriately.

Documentation & Compliance

Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations and procedures.
Follow change management processes and adhere to security baselines and compliance standards.
Advanced Operations (Optional / Growth Path)
Performance tuning and kernel optimization.
Advanced monitoring and alerting solutions.
Disaster recovery planning and testing.
Cross-platform integrations and container platform troubleshooting.

Job Specification

Required qualifications for this job

Required Education Level:Under Graduate (Bachelor)

Required Experience:Equal to 3 years

Other Specification

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)
0–3 years of Linux system administration experience
Valid RHCSA certification (EX200)
Hands-on knowledge of Bash scripting
Basic understanding of networking concepts
Ability to work in a team and participate in on-call rotations

Preferred / Advantageous:

RHCE certification (EX294)
Experience with OpenStack, VMware, or Nutanix private cloud
Familiarity with Ansible Tower / AWX
Exposure to ITIL / ITSM processes
Experience with monitoring tools (Zabbix, Nagios, Prometheus)
Basic Python scripting knowledge
Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP)
