ASSIGNMENT
The Agricultural Specialist is responsible for the implementation, management, and development of the food security & livelihood program components of ACTED projects in Nepal and for contributing to the development of the country food security & livelihood of ACTED in Nepal.

FUNCTIONS
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide technical guidance for selection of appropriate agricultural inputs including tools, vegetable and cereals seeds for different districts of Nepal
- Oversee and organize partnership with local communities to implement the agriculture and livelihood activities in rural communities in line with the seasonal livelihoods calendar
- Organize and coordinate assessments, data collection and analysis for each ACTED base.
- Organize Focus-Group Discussions, surveys, interviews or any other type of data collection methods when required
- Coordinate with target communities, local farmers groups, and district level government agricultural offices
- Regular update on agricultural and livelihood activities to program coordinator
- Attend regularly the food security cluster meeting and share with area/project coordinators
- Identify best practices & lesson learned during project implementation
- ensure that cross cutting issues of climate change, environment, gender are incorporated in agricultural projects
- Lead in designing country strategy for training and extension service delivery to farmers
- Regular field visits to provide technical backstopping to field staff and communities
- Take lead in research, inventions and innovations to increase productivity of land for the farmers
- Take lead in monitoring and report crop performance throughout the agricultural season
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- University Degree in Agriculture science or other relevant subject
- Previous experience in data collection, sharing and analysis on cropping patterns in Nepal
- Previous experience in working with communities and good communication skills with communities
- Previous experience in working with INGOs/NGOs or government in emergency context.
- Previous experience in working on remote areas communities is desirable
