Job Description

Main Objective: Develop and implement the mission advocacy and communication strategies consistent with international advocacy issues pursued by ACF-IN at global level and ACF-IN communication guidelines and standards

TASKS AND RESPONSIBITIES:

Objective 1: Contribute to the definition of mission strategy

  • Developing the mission advocacy strategy consistent with the technical strategies and ACF international advocacy strategies : identification of objectives of change, defining the messages, targets and partners and relevant tools
  • Developing the mission communication strategy consistent with ACF-IN branding guidelines and ACF Nepal Country Strategy
  • Writing proposals (or advocacy objectives within mission’s proposals) and reports for funding bodies and submitting to the Country Director in a timely manner

Objective 2: Implement the advocacy strategy at national level

  • Managing information necessary for advocacy activities
  • Elaborating the action plan and coordinating the implementation of advocacy activities
  • Efficiently monitoring and evaluating the results, ensuring compliance with ACF standards, implementing recommendations and alerting the Country Director (or deputy Country Director) when necessary
  • Analyze the situation on advocacy issues: collect and update the data, follow political, financial, administrative, national or international dates, follow the positioning of all parties and their changes
  • Collecting or coordinating the collection of evidence through the results of ACF programs in the country and according to opportunities to influence
  • Facilitating the sharing of advocacy objectives within the mission
  • Writing positioning papers and summaries and actively participate to the writing of messages
  • Initiating and participate to official and lobbying meetings about issues related to the advocacy strategy in cooperation with the Heads of Technical Department and the Country Director or Deputy CD

Objective 3: Represent ACF to outside bodies

  • Developing and coordinating partnerships with other parties on advocacy activities (NGO, civil society) and facilitating joint advocacy activities
  • Supporting the Country Director (or Deputy CD) in developing contact with the media in order to have an effective and efficient channels for advocacy and communication messages

Objective 4: Contribute to ACF expertise on Advocacy

  • Recording experience and lessons learned on advocacy activities and transmit to HQ
  • Contributing to working groups and advocacy activities (data collection and analysis, possible participation to international forums and meetings) of ACF international network
  • Adapting and implementing mission activities related to overall advocacy objectives (support to campaigns, multi-country activities)

Objective 5: Produce external communication material about ACF programs and strategy

  • Collecting information and analysis from ACF team (especially from Heads of Department and Field coordinator) on political, socio-economic situation and humanitarian needs of the country
  • Monitoring national newspapers and media, as well as UN publications, for relevant information and take them into consideration to prepare ACF communication
  • Creating communication products about ACF Nepal programs in local language as well as English for wider dissemination: 1 brochure per program; an overview of ACF work in country (annual); review case studies provided by field team to include in program reporting
  • Supporting field team to produce good quality pictures for external communication and donor reporting

Objective 6: Assist the CD to manage communication with and through media

  • Creating and ensure permanent relations with national journalists and media
  • Creating a media contact list and develop an analysis to identify potential opportunities and risks to interact with the communication actors
  • Ensuring a good information flow between ACF and media (formal and informal meetings, letters, articles, etc…) about programs and activities.
  • Preparing press releases when needed to share relevant messages about ACF positioning and activities
  • Advising the CD and other ACF staff in order to facilitate external communication (for interviews, redaction of articles)

Objective 7: Support communication and visibility works in ACF

  • Assisting the CD and managerial staff, when appropriate for general and official representation during meetings with authorities, organizations, members of the civil society, media and other parties when necessary
  • Assisting other members of the staff, both national and international, in ACF communication upon request of the Country Director
  • Participating in the different communication events organized by NGOs, GoN, Donors, Civil society, Community Based Organization, along with CD or individually
  • Assisting the technical departments and operational teams (PMs, Field coordinator) to develop communication and visibility in their programs

Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract
Contract Duration: 1 year
Basic Salary per month: NPR 93,192 plus (accommodation allowance which depends on localized/delocalized staff, transportation allowance, provident fund benefit and festival bonus)
Duty Station: Kathmandu -1 position
