1. Project Coordinator, Early Childhood Care and Development and Promote Early Grade Reading (ECCD/EGR) Project

Provide leadership in the coordination and overall delivery of the Early Childhood Care and Development and Promote Early Grade Reading (ECCD/EGR) Project in Dolpa district and at national level. Lead in planning, implementation, partnership management and reporting of the project and support local and national level partners. Timely delivery of the project with highest technical quality according to the objectives and approach in the project document.

Term and Location: Fixed term employment till 31st December 2017 based in Dolpa

Required qualifications & experiences: Masters Degree in Education/ Child Development or equivalent. Minimum 4 years of working experiences in related filed, experience in ECCD and /or Early Grade Reading programming preferred. Proven experience in project management including planning, implementation and reporting with partner organisations. INGO work experiences an added advantage.

Key End Results and typical Responsibilities:

  • Develop and periodically review project operational plan, annual and quarterly plans and budgets for effective project implementation
  • Lead and manage the project interventions, development of technical tools with adequate consultation and participation of staff and other key stakeholders at all stages of project implementation
  • Coordinate, supervise and appraise project-supported implementing to ensure timely and quality delivery of the project at all stages of implementation, and to ensure efficient utilization and timely accountability of funds and other resources allocated in accordance with grant conditions
  • Develop a system for capturing, documenting and disseminating project experiences, achievements, lesson learnt and best practice to stakeholders while maintaining project records for accountability purposes
  • Prepare and submit quality and timely project reports to project stakeholders as per donor requirements and the project monitoring & evaluation plan
  • Coordinate with Curriculum Development Center (CDC), National Centre for Educational Development (NCED) and Department of Education (DOE) for designing teacher training manual and Early Grade Reading material production guideline
  • Represent Plan International Nepal at relevant technical working groups and events/fora to ensure project visibility at district and regional level
  • Organise and hold regular performance review meetings to assess progress and to agree on and communicate any changes in strategy with the key project stakeholders
  • Initiate district and community level consultation meeting, workshop for the project detail implementation plan and participate in district education committee meeting; and ensure better alignment of the project activities into the district education plan (DEP) or annual strategic implementation plan (ASIP)
  • Identify and participate in policy development and operational research related to the project

Physical Environment and Demands:

The candidate is required to work in remote mountainous location, which includes long hours of travel and possibly to remote villages in the district where the ECCD and EGR Project is under implementation. Position is expected to spend 75% of time in the field leading/monitoring project activities with frequent travel to Kathmandu.
