Employer : Volunteers Initiative Nepal
Contract: 4 Months
Location: Kathmandu with frequent field visits to Okhaldhunga, Dolakha and Nuwakot

Background: Volunteers Initiative Nepal (VIN) is a non-governmental and non-profit community development volunteer organization (NGO). VIN aims to promote equality, economic wellbeing and basic human rights through enhanced educational programs and community training.
Under The supervision of program manager (PM) the M & E officer is responsible for  managing and monitoring the day to day of the activities of the WASH project, which aims to provide toilets in marginalized communities and promote proper hygiene and sanitation practices in the community. 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
The Wash Monitoring and Evaluation officer will be responsible for:
Objective 1:  Collection of information and documentation  

  • Provide information on available services at both Households and settlement shelters
  • Regular liaison and communication with beneficiaries, service providers and partner organizations
  • Conduct project site visits to provide hands-on training to staff working in the field on how to capture and organize information for accurate documentation and reporting.

Objective 2: Create and implement monitoring & Evaluation tools and methodologies for VIN’s Wash activities.

  • Create tools,databases and methodologies to monitor and evaluate VIN’s Wash activities (distribution, construction and rehabilitation, hygiene promotion, solid waste management, surveys, etc. …).
  • Organize the implementation of these tools and methodologies (field surveys, management of databases, writing reports, etc.) in collaboration with the rest of the Hygiene Promotion team and field staff.

Objective 3: Manage the Beneficiaries Database.

  • Organize, upload, collate and evaluate data provided by the database 
  • Provide evaluation information for use by VIN management and other interested parties.

Objective 4: Reporting.

  • Report the progress of project activities to the PM.
  • Regular oral and written reporting to the PM

Knowledge and Skills required:

  • Bachelor in public health, social sciences or related fields.
  • Two  to three years of experience in a same field; experience with M&E
  • Good communication skills, used to speaking in public and working with people from different backgrounds.
  • Experience in solid waste management, working with local communities, children and vulnerable people,
  • Experience in community mobilization and participation,
  • Previous experience in managing data collection
  • Computer skills (Microsoft Office),
  • Very good English level (written, reading and writing).
  • Able to work to deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel to remote Nepal 

Experience required: 

  • 2 to 3 years

 Salary: Rs. 30,000 + Negotiable
