On our programme you get the opportunity to work side by side with local communities and international volunteers in various villages of Gorkha or Makwanpur districts for 12 Weeks.

The Programme
International Citizen Service (ICS):
International Citizen Service is a UK government funded volunteer programme aimed at providing Nepali and UK young people the with opportunity to work together in the development sector to have an impact and become active global citizens. The programme is split into 2 parts, a 12-week placement and then a personal commitment to follow up your learning with writing a report. You will receive a certificate of completion from the UK government once your report has been accepted. There are also other further opportunities to engage with UK government Department for International Development (DFID) youth programmes after completion of the programme.
For the first part (placement), young people from the UK will travel to Nepal and work with you as part of a team of 12 volunteers – 6 Nepali and 6 UK plus 2 Team Leaders (1 Nepali/1 UK).
Our programmes are based in Gorkha and Makawanpur, and you will be living for 12weeks in a selected community in a host home with a UK volunteer partner. Your teammates will be living in the same community as well and you will have 2 Team Leaders who manage the programme.
Expedition:
Expedition is a core program run by Raleigh International Nepal aiming to provide Nepali and International volunteers with opportunities to work together in rural communities of Gorkha WASH as a thematic area.
You will be responsible for delivering awareness raising sessions, community infrastructure, developing resources for the community, undertaking needs assessments and action research, helping our partners deliver training to the communities and promoting active global citizenship. You will live with a host home family in a community alongside a UK counterpart and you’ll be expected to participate in family life.
