Position: Volunteering for development (V4D) Officer

Duration: One Year and Extendable 
Location: Kathmandu 
Reports to: Sr. Manager - Resource Development & Communications
Field Visits: 60% travel (Domestic)

Core Function: The incumbent will work closely with the Resource Development and Communications Team (RDComms) at Habitat Nepal and will support the execution of Habitat’s overall volunteering for development strategy. Working closely with the V4D Coordinator, s/he will support operationalization of Habitat’s V4D action plan, implementation of Global Village program and support partnerships with volunteer and youth lead organizations.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

Global Village Program (80%)

• Assume duties as a Host Coordinator to host Global Village teams in Nepal 
• Manage in-country prep work pre-build and reporting during post-build aspects of the GV program 
• Lead coordination with vendors, local stakeholders, communities, Partner NGO staff and GV team leader to ensure smooth facilitation of the Build Week 
• Prepare reconciliation reports and manage closure of accounts within reporting period
• Update relevant information to ensure all Global Village collaterals, such as Country Profiles, Village profiles, social learning and exchange opportunities, family partner profiles are shared on time

Youth initiatives (20%)

• Support execution of Habitat Nepal’s V4D strategy design in alignment with the Global Youth Framework, AP Regional Strategy and Habitat Nepal’s Country Strategic Plan.  
• Support partnerships with youth-led organizations and groups to co-design creative campaigns and advocacy work on housing rights, land rights and other cross-thematic areas, including climate justice, DRR, WASH, Financial inclusion, Market systems, sustainable development, etc.  
• Support ‘Youth4Humanity’ initiative that focuses on creating a safe platform for youth to have discussions and dialogues on the issues that matter to them.

Education Qualification and Professional Experience

• Undergraduate in development studies, or related subjects. 
• At least 2 years of relevant experience

Knowledge and Competencies

• Outstanding oral and written communication skills; innovative and creative thinker.
• Willingness and ability to work closely with other departments, institutions, and across cultures.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and produce high quality results.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-driven.
